View Full Version : Shoutcast... audio hog?

Heyas. I have a quick question. I run a home recording studio and thought it'd be a great idea to have everything laying over Shoutcast as the music was created, so people could sit in on a recording session.

Everything gets recorded into Cakewalk Pro Suite. I found that if I have Shoutcast open and then I open Cakewalk, Cakewalk doesnt list any of the audio playback devices. If I open Cakewalk first, then open Shoutcast, I get the audio playback devices, but no sound comes out once Webcast is running.

The question is, how do I keep Webcast from shutting out all other programs using the audio playback of a sound card? I have 2 soundcards, a SoundBlaster 64 and a Darla 24, which allows up to 3 seperate playback channels. Technically, i should be able to do this with no problem, but I need to know how to make Shoutcast share the audio playback devices. Thanks.

hi..

hmm, i didn't have this problem, though i use my own
mod/x3m/s3m/it player written in vc++ ... i have got
only one sound card (it's pretty ugly, yamaha 724;) )
and when i run shoutcast, it's all right. after that
i launch my own program , select a mod file, and then
by directsound the sound comes .. i think, that shoutcast
"catches" directsound signal, and transmitts it to your
listeners. what about you. hm, what sound playin' plugin
did you select?

Hmm, thats interesting......
The sound plugin? You mean as in the Shoutcast Plugin dsp_sc? Keepin mind, i'm only about 12 hours old as far as my shoutcast experience goes =)

All i know for certain is that once I connect the Shotucast plugin to my server, I cant get any audio playback sound from Cakewalk. I can probably get MIDI playback, though I havent tried...yet most of the tracks I record are live audio. Im trying to figure out what the happy medium is for both programs...any ideas what might try?
