so THATS what you've been doing while you were away...
It wonderful- yes I know its metal, so its not exactly the most original scheme. But its still very nice, its crisp, clean, and well defined. PLus some interesting colors used- not your normal neon green/yellow LCDS (like, LCDS, gag me with a spoon)
Its very pleasant. I like it. A lot.
My only change, and it is ever so minor, would be to anit-alias the symbols under the play/stop/next track/ etc... buttons. Otherwise keep it exactly the way it is.

Hehe...:p smarty :p 'course we are!
Every time I hit that anti-alias button...I'd smile to myself and think 'Xerxes would be so proud of me'...thanks for catching the part I totally forgot to anti-alias *hug*
Pixelpusher: Thank you...that means alot to me :)
Lynx: I debated for a long time on doing that, and decided to leave it alone to see if someone really wanted them to light up....I'll work on it. Of course you know, if Cappy can catch me for that redraw titlebar action after I change it, I'm going to blame you :p (I can never get those 2 little parts of the top left button straight) :D

Jayn! Welcome back. And such a flashy return, too! Does this mean you're back for real, or just long enough to collect your kudos? :)
HOWEVER, everytime I download Dusk, the zip is corrupted. Anyone else having problems? Jayn, could you email the zip to me? Guess this'll give you time to check that Windows titlebar button one more time... :p

Thanks Cappy! I'm back for real now....work has finally settled down.
I've emailed Dusk to you....can't wait for the 'Cappy Report' :D

i've noticed a bug in the balance and volume slider buttons the bottom row of pixels needs the dark bits changed to 66,66,74
also the minibrowser titlebar looks a bit dodgy
if ur keeping the volume slider the same wen pressed and unpressed i would consider removeing the button and putting ur ball in each frame on the sliders that would get rid of the orange bits on the button movin differently to the ones on the frames
anyway well done on a gr8 skin!!!!
<edit> i just noticed that there is a pixel wrong on the mb its at the top right corner of the bottom right part of the mb, the bit that u click to resize

I saw that Jayn needed some feedback, so I was on it.
It looks so great, Jayn!
Well done!
There's not one thing bad about the skin, in my opinion.
Now, let's transfer those skills to Winamp 3. Easy!
Hahaaa...

OK Jayn, welcome back. Got a little present for you. The list looks intimidating, but really they're all minor things, mostly pixels out of place (could it by that dying monitor still?).
DUSK no version listed
Bugs:
- Main Window: Volume slider button, something's not right with your psuedo-mask. The very right edge is choppy in both states.
- Main Window: the A for "always on" in the clutterbar gets its peak chopped off. Not sure why. Is the whole clutterbar column 1 pixel too high in the bitmap? hmmm
-Main Window: the lightning bolt is left of the hotzone. Not entirely, but most of it is. May have been designer's choice...
- Main Window: Shuffle/Repeat. When the buttons are off, the top row of pixels are cut off of the icons below them. Might be intentional...
- Main Window: couple of stray purple pixels floating around a bit above the lightning bolt.
- Playlist Window: Playlist scroller, at the very top, the black pixels change their pattern when this window becomes active. This is probably an issue in the titlebar.
- Playlist Window: when Visualization is active, it overwrites part of the little frame that's supposed to contain it. Tight quarters, there, your call on how to deal with that. :)
- Minibrowser Window: stay with me on this one: bottom left and and right, where the bottom of the window joins with the vertical elements, you have stray black pixels on both sides. It's only one pixel on the far right (in the bevel). On the left, theres a line of them next to the web area.
- MikroAmp: System Tray icons: Pause and Stop are each one pixel too far right
- Readme: Neither cappy17 nor ampburner should be capitalized and your title says: "~~~~~~ DUSK~~~~~~" -- you're tildas aren't balanced. :D Heh, how's that for nitpicking? Don't you evil grin me, Moderator Ma'am. :D
Comments:
- Cool effect on the posbar slider! Works well with the chain of bearings look.
- I'd like to see the titlebar buttons light up when press. Colored like the Mini buttons.
- I really like your EQ and volume slider "springs". You always have the coolest things going on in those areas.
- I like this skin. Because it has all the sleekness of metal skins without being overtly a metallic skin. And Xerxes is right, the color choices are different enough to be appealing for their originality.
Thanks, Jayn, for another excellent skin. Good to have you back.

-decently subtle (oe not overstated and loud) colour gradiations.
-attractive colour palette
-apparent attempt at some shading/lighting (depth) effect which is commendable. i definately commend anyone who tries to reach far and try thing. i notice your atempts and i think they have been most successful in some parts over others, forinstance your mikroamp is strong.
- nonstandard lettering in the bitmap alphabet. that's good. too many people just change the colours of t instead of playing witht he letters a little.
perhaps the weakest techinal point i would say is some places where you've used tangerine text over light backgrounding, (ie the on&auto buttons on the EQ). some might find this difficult to read (if this matters to you).
keep it up.
oh, also you've used a device inthe top left corner. the diagonal strokes set in there. i would prsonaly like to see that idea used in more thn one place of the skin. i think it's an effective device there. perhaps on the relatively spartan areas of the PL controls i might be useful? perhaps not though. your call.

I'm in the readme! I am truly honored. :D [HINT 4] Note to self: mention forum people in next skin. Makes sense, considering the subject matter. [/HINT 4]
I love the systray MikroAMP, by the way. Looks good in these 16 colors.

Jayn,
You know my thoughts and views on this already, having been playing with the skin for a while now.
Sort that easter egg text out tho, tooooo hard to read, or maybe its my tired eyes.
Other than that no complaints :), after all I'm top of the list in the readme :D and it's gotORANGE (http://www.winamp.com/customize/download_component.jhtml?filename=http%3A%2F%2Fftp.winamp.com%2Fcustomize%2Fcomponent%2F2001%2F1%2F12%2FS%2FTangerine_Scream.wsz&componentid=39993) in it, so you won't hear any complaints from me :D
Back to the day job :)

What kind of guy pushes his own link inside of complimenting another skinner?
jeez, who is this "Mr Jones" character? Mods, shouldn't he be knocked back to newbie?
*chuckle* Welcome back, old chap.
Yeah, I know, this is Jayn's thread, but it's the first one I found your return in, and dancing in Jayn's territory is... appropriate. :) :)
All smiles, now. ;)

Hehe...very appropriate....shake it baybeee!! :p
Welcome back Mr Jones! *sigh of contentment* :D
M'kay...I've fixed all those nasty bugs, anti-aliased here, changed things there....and posted the results in my new screenshot (at the top of the thread).
The only 2 things I didn't change were my 'dodgy' mb titlebar.....cuz, I don't know what that means :D. And I left my easter egg the way it is....I don't want Metallica to sue my hiney for using a line from one of their songs (if you can't read it, they can't either :p )
Thanks again guys for all the great feedback and ideas! Off to submit and snag my 3 stars (isn't that the norm now?) :D

Man that server you use Jayn really is the worst I've seen, half the time the screen caps don't load, all of the time the link dosn't work, and before anyyyyyyyone shouts I don't belive it's a prob at my end, as this is the 4th machine, and fourth type of connection I've used, 56k, 128k isdn, Cable and now the T3 backbone at work. I'd be asking some serious questions to home.net
Metallica sue you ???, LOL, is that fair, after all they are such caring SHARING kind of fella's, shame about the comedy beards :)
Here's your review Jayn, Im getting in practice for the public review systems....
Comments.......
" Well, what can I say, orange text, orange buttons, orange bars, yum yum yum, one suggestion tho, orange vis might look nice agaist that nice dark metal. I like the cross hatch grooves on the edges of the windows altho I would have made them all run the same direction to give a sense of uniformity to the skin, could also add some to the MB skin as well. Mucho fun on the EQ sliders, I love a good EQ bar, mainly as mine are usualy so poor LOL. The playlist stack are a touch on the unexciting side, a little fake transparancy might not go amiss down there. Ahhhh and you edited the text.bmp, very very very nice, this hardly ever gets touched beyond a recolour job, that alone will get you another http://www.winamp.com/images/misc/stars.gif, it's this small attention to detail that seperates it from the average looking skin and propels it into the "mmmm fine" arena. Overall a very tight skin, worthy of a download (if the link worked correctly :D). Now how about a change of pace Jayn, how about a nice image based skin, show your peers out here that you can do it, you can always combine both elements if you like, image/metalic!"
Star rating "http://www.winamp.com/images/misc/stars.gifhttp://www.winamp.com/images/misc/stars.gifhttp://www.winamp.com/images/misc/stars.gifhttp://www.winamp.com/images/misc/stars.gif"
Overall :-" mucho tight, mucho fun, mucho orange, download NOW"
There how'd I do?, critique to the masses?, new vocation in life?, or shall I not give up that day job just yet? :D

Hmmm. Some pretty flowery words in there, but gets the right sentiment across. Now, would that be "critique" or "critic" to the masses?
Jayn -- I gotta agree with Mr J on that server issue. Hope you're not paying a lot for it.
