Recently I have been fiddling around with Windows Media Player primarily because the project I am on deals with Windows Media Technology.
Dont get me wrong, I'm still faithfull to Winamp but Windows Media Player packs a heavy powerfull killer punch!

What I have noticed
---
-Most online radio stations are going native to Windows Media Technologies. I personally think that their streaming is far superior to Real Networks, etc.. Winamp supports asf files but not the stations themselves. Sometimes even when you know the asf file played by a station it does not work. And my personal opinion of shoutcast is very low (Shoutcast seems like it has taken a really bumpy ride on the llama and not rocovered yet).

-Skins: Woah you got to check out these skins, They might not be plentifull but they are really cool - got animations too. Each skin has the capability to add new functionality to the player. And in addition to that with the Windows Media Player Bonus package, you get a pretty cumbersome utility that converts Winamp Skins to Windows Media Player skins (trust me its not as cool but it has the look)

-Excellent online Media Galery -Superb online media entertainment - I watched Bruce Lee's Fist of fury online

-File format - the native file format for Windows Media Technologies is wma - it has much better compression than mp3. Almost half the file size.

Yo Justin you better make Winamp 3 better or you are going to lose a lot of Winampians.

Right now the way I see it is kinda like this. Microsoft are aiming hight with Windows Media Player, and Windows Media Technologies. Music Players like Sonique etc.. wont be the "thing" in future. It would be Windows Media Technologies that will dominate. So Winamp 3 better add 100% support for Windows Media Technologies or go start a llama farm.

Something else I would really like to see in Winamp is support for streams and files by real audio and other leading music technologies.

Didnt mean to be harsh - just want winamp to be the Ultimate high fidelity media player
