being a Chinese, it is very easy for me to learn japanese.

Speak and write English (of course), but I also know how to speak and write Japanese pretty proficiently. I lived in Japan for a while because my school sent me there on an exchange program. Even though I think I'm pretty good at Japanese, I'll never use it here in restaurants because I always fear I'm going to say something stupid. Gotta build up my self confidence

I think its a shame that most people will attempt to learn other languages before mastering their own. On that basis, I know English to an advanced level (near perfect grammar and spelling) and am only now starting German. Living in South Wales, unfortunately, forces me to learn a little Welsh - mainly comprehension only. Thankfully I don't have to write or speak it as long as I can pronounce words like Llanelli. (Thlan Eth Lee)
However, there's always: Pascal (inc. Delphi), C, C++, Perl, PHP, Assembler, Java, JavaScript, mIRC Script, Basic (Most Dialects)... Or don't they count? :D
Happy Camping Ya'll.

Not Spain, that's Spanish - Esperanto is a European language formed from a combination of the Germanic and Latin bases, with a few English words added for good measure. It's also pointless as very few people speak it (as it has no "homeland").
As for me, I can understand English (as we can see), German, French, and Spanish.

My native language is English; I read, speak, and write it fluently, and often correct other people when it speak it poorly. I am taking Spanish in high school; I can read and write it but I can't speak it. I can read and write Esperanto but also cannot speak that.
c2R: Esperanto is not pointless. While it is true that not many people speak it (only about 2 million) if you learn Esperanto, you will be able to learn other languages more easily. It is a good introduction to learning foreign languages.
By the way, learning a foreign language, especially one as easy as Esperanto, will make you hate English.
