Hopefully someone knows how to do this.

I want to be able to disable the functions of the number pad in winamp and change the function. Here is what I roughly want.

I need to be able to type a number in and press enter, and have winamp go directly to the track number that I typed in. Kinda like typing in a channel on a tv instead of scrolling through the channels?

I hope someone knows how to do this and can post a reply to this. Thanks alot in advance, even if you cant help.

I think that the nearest thing to what you want implemented by winamp is when you hit the 'j' key on the keyboard, it brings up a search box that allows you to jump directly to a track.

Close, if only it tagged each song with a number in that screen...

I need to be able to go to track numbers to use my infa-red remote fully :(

Any ideas or ideas of were I may find a plugin, drop me a line here.

Thanks :)

I don't know whether such a plugin exists or not, however I can write it for you if it doesn't.

If you want me to and the way of implementing this function works is as easy as I think you can have it by sunday...

If not then you'd have to wait a bit since I'm currently a bit busy with school.

btw - which remote control do you use?

Thanks alot, There may be such a plugin but if there is I certanly couldnt find it, and i browsed the plugin pages for quite a chunk of time :/

The remote is a Packard Bell Fast media remote.

The softwere I am using to drive it is WIRC version 1.61

The software can be found at http://zorxx.dohnut.org/

I was going to use keyboard emulation to set up the keys on the remote to run your plugin, thatway the same can be done off of the regular keyboard or any other device that supports keyboard emulation. (making the program less proprietary and more generally usefull.)

Again, thanks alot and good luck with the plugin.

If there is anything I can do to repay you for your help in the form of web stuff let me know :)

I apologize for the delay, but I was unable to find any spare time until today for writing the plugin. However it's finished now and you can grab it here: http://www1.inetmail.de/Bitfummler/gen_remoteJumper.zip

I think it is what you wanted. If not - tell me and I'll change it.

btw - I thought about implementing a patial jumping function which would jump to the tracks according to the numbers you enter, but I was unsure if you want it so I did not include it.
With the function entering 1234 would make winamp jump first to the tracks 1, 12, 123 and 1234 without playing them. It only starts playing when you press the enter key (and thus finished entering the number).

Your plugin is a work of art.

May I post it on my site for my friends, and If so what line would you like me to post with it to give you credit?

If you wish I could add a small readme file so everyone knows what the plugin does and how to use it.

If this is not needed then you can copy it to anyone you like - it's freeware.

However if you intend to make it downloadable from your webpage then I'd like to bundle it with a readme file and the sourcecode (I love open source, you know ;)).

I was excited about this program when I got it, and still am.

However...

It has a few minor bugs which I would like to see fixed before I give it to friends and have them asking me why this or that acts strangely.

I am beta-testing it now, as soon as I find a pattern to what it is doing strangly I will let you know full info and do what I can to help make it perfect :)

It is possible I have something set incorrectly, and I dont want to rule out that before I start asking to change code, so give me a few days to get a definate feel for its behavior and then I will fill you in with more details.

Thanks again lots, Brian

Oh, I found a small mistake which could be the cause for the minor bug(s).

Please download the plugin again and see if it's now working flawlessly...

And thanks for beta-testing it :)

Ok heres what I have found. I dont know if this is new info to you or not, if it is intentional or not, but it is the pattern.

The plugin works if the playlist window is the last window to be clicked... ie the active winamp window. If the eq or the volume control window is the last window you clicked, or winamp is minimised, it does not function.

Anyway, is there a way to make it global to winamp, and user configurable to be global to windows (so winamp can be minimized and still use it)

Let me know what you think, and thanks for all you have done so far.

P.S. in case you make different observations:
System - window AT system
Processor- 350 k6-2 OC to 400mhz
Ram - 64 megs pc100
OS - Windows 2000 Pro

Not to get too far off subject, but...

I was checking out your website, and your work on Yummy seems to be quite interesting. Good work. Few people go out of their way to make quality infomation avalible at no cost over the net like that, and you should be thanked by all who know of your work.

Oh, I see... the reason for the plugin working only when the playlist is active is quite obvious. So I'll fix it very soon.

Thank you for your comment on yume, it's going to be the biggest project I've done so far.

>Few people go out of their way to make quality infomation avalible at no cost over the net like that

Sad, but true :(
However I think that I have the power to give an example of how to do it - the only thing making me sad is when people request the source code, get it, and don't even say a simple 'thank you'... but anyway, you meet those people everywhere.

Completed the revised version: http://www1.inetmail.de/Bitfummler/gen_remoteJumper.exe

I think about adding another key for clearing the numbers entered so you can correct the track number and a setup dialog to enable/disable the plugin. What do you think of it? Would it be useful - or not?
