I'm a newbie, please forgive me...
SHOUTcast seems to max out at 64k by default but I see many stations are broadcasting at 128kbps. What do I need to do that?

Do a search of "128k" and you will find your answers! You have to buy the encoder that allows you to do this or you can find a hacked version which works. Pick your poison!

I have the same question. I found the section of the documentation that say i need to buy a high bit rate encoder but the URL given is incorrect. I tracked down the fraunhoffer institutes web page and they do have high bit rate encoders listed on the site but the are stand alone command line executables.
Does anyone know how i integrate these with WinAmp/ShoutCast? Or if not, where can i find a high bit rate encoder that does integrate... I don't mind paying money for it either.
cheers
Andrew

Sigh..same questions..over and over...try and search the forums if you have a question and 95% of the time you'll find your question has already been answered and by someone else.

The reason why I asked this question is not because I did not do research, but because I did not find my answer after searching this forum, the SHOUTclub forum, and the Internet with Google.
I would expect that someone has written a comprehensive FAQ, but I certainly couldn't find it.
Also, getting responses of "search for '128k'" and it's ilk really do not help much. It is simply a waste of everyone's time and bandwidth.
For all those interested in the answer to this question, see this excellent article (http://www.shoutclub.com/help/shoutcast/multi.php3) at Shoutclub.

Thank you Flitcroft.
I also spent an hour or two looking through the Shoutcast forum and this was the only thread that looked like it was related to my question. I also searched using the search engine and i found a few older threads that did not provide the specific information, just a general "get the fraunhoffer codec" or "this question has already been answered" response.
DeSano could probably have supplied an answer in the same amount of time it took him to act smug, superior and world weary, but that's his choice.

Wow isn't it ironic that I did a search of the Shoutcast forum for "128k" and came up with this:

I mean come on guys. Things aren't going to be handed to you on a silver platter each and everyday. Go deeper than two pages worth of searches and you'll find every answer to every question you've ever asked. So before you go "wasting bandwidth" spend a little extra time to find your answers before you spout your mouth off on this forum. But you both are new to the forums so I guess it's expected. DeSano, I'm sure is as frustrated as anyone else who answered this question (for the one millionth time). If I had a dime for everytime this question was asked and answered I'd own my own OC3 line by now. So there's your link. Download it and have som fun.

Wow you nailed it, but honestly you're right. I could have answered it for him, hell I even could have sent him the codecs. But what kind of example would I be setting? People need to learn how to search the forums, it makes life so much easier for everyone. See club's post above, I doubt you searched for hours if after one search club was able to find answers, I mean we're all using the same forums right?

why does it seam everyone is so bitter about codecs geez i do agree that given a attention span longer the a few m/s you could find some answers but i also thought that this is the reason fourms were invented hmmmm

This search is not as great as u guys make it out to be, if the same question gets asked over and over again ie: frequently then why the hell aint it in a FAQ section or summin? initially I was sifting through all of the threads lookin for what I wanted, but theres thousands of the damn things, eventually a search did answer my question, but it was like the fourth page of results that I found it.
