WOW - That is a very excellent skin.

This is the best example of a clean, cool, and ever day usable skin I've seen so far.

The rest I've seen from guys like RhinoTrip are great free-form skin examples, but I don't think I could use them day to day. This one I could when its done.

I haven't downloaded it yet... Is the Windowshade mode done yet?

BTW - You should really post it to Deskmod and then update it as you get more done!

Keep up the great work

yeah, really like it, a very useable yet cool skin. just one thing tho', the crossfade, shuffle and repeat buttons arn't obvious. This doesnt matter much to me as i set these things then leave them. otherwise a wonderful skin!

Nice Skin.

Very nice. ooh, the eject button is so sexy... everything is very well organized. The x-fade, rep and shuf buttons are a bit too small though, I think. Even the context menu is classy.

2nd May 2001, 13:07
Doh - Found a bug with the skin:

If you have the "clock" show the amount of time REMAINING in the song (you can do this by clicking on the time by the way) then it cuts off the last digit of the seconds (presumably because of the minus sign).

You should just have to shift the text over a little and be ok. This only happens in Normal mode - looks fine in windowshade mode.

Otherwise, looks fantastic, looking forward to the rest of the skin!

Looks really great!

But what I see that many skinners are locked up to the original size of Winamp2. So just try experimenting with size a bit more, go all out, but none of that tree resembling skin.

Personally I don't think there is anything wrong with that. The original size, etc of WA2 is very good. But what he has done is to take the original workable size and play around with the play control buttons, etc in a very cool way which you could not do with WA2 because of the skin limitations.

Personally I like this type of skin since playing mp3's is always secondary on my computer. I play them when I code, when I write, when I check email. So the Windowshade mode is VERY important because that's what it will look like 90% of the time.

kinwashi
2nd May 2001, 13:51
thanks schweitn, clock will be fixed with the next update (that will also include the playlist)

and about the format of the skin, it's just because i like it that way... and i like to dock the playlist, main window and equalizer, and that usually don't look very pretty with freeform skins... but who knows, maybe in my next skin ;-)

Another bug:

The minumum volume is "008" amd the maximum is "1008" or "888" depending on...something.

That is seriosly the coolest WA3 skin so far, besides boxor :)

I love this skin. I think more of the wa3 skins should look more like the original winamp shape. Good job on this skin, kinwashi.

 omg!!!!!!!!! I love this skin! I've been using the originally Winamp 2.x version of it for months now and I'm stoked I get to use an even better version in WInamp 3. You kick major ass, man! Keep up the great work! :)

Jeskar
2nd May 2001, 21:57
Are you sure you're not confusing the percent sign for an 8? The volume seems to work perfectly fine for me, but I did have to take a second look to make sure it was set to 100% and not 1008. :)

Auriga Augmented, GreyBlue, and BrightBlue weren't made by the original author. (even though you could just as easily read that info in the next post. ; )

Great skin probalby one of the best skins for wa3 so far. I like the way it looks sort of like WA2, but some things are moved around a little.

Curi0us_George
3rd May 2001, 03:32
I think it's an absolutely beautiful skin. It will become my default skin as soon as the rest of the components are skined.

i like the glass alpha layer over the info part of the main player.

Just out of curiousity, what program did you use to make your images? I'm interested in the glass, in particular, since I can't seem to make any transparencies work for the skin I'm working on.

Well, I can't seem to delete this post, but I figured out what I was doing wrong about two minutes after posting it. Sorry for taking up your time.

Nice successor to your original Auriga skin. I have it installed for Winamp2x, and it was my default for months (until I retired it and replaced it with my new pet skin... namely my own). I like the fact that the proportions are so similar to Winamp2x's, because frankly, I prefer that funky rectangle to anything else! ;) Keep up the good work.

Doggy Dog
4th May 2001, 17:00
Yeah, Auriga is beautiful (though that Ramon bastard thinks it's a rip :D ), and this is even more beautiful.
btw. WarpFlyght, why don't you put a link to your skin,so that the rest of the world can see it.

NZRob
7th May 2001, 10:46
hey man just a thought for the buttons that everyone is saying are to small. why not incorperate them into that cool spine shape at the top of the main window as then it would keep the lovey look to the skinn with making them clearer.
Can't wait for the full skin!!!!!

kinwashi
7th May 2001, 15:15
I've updated AurigaV3, it now has an equalizer (both normal and winshade), although I haven't been able to get the right color for the EQ spline yet. I've also made some minor changes to the main window in winshade mode. A halfdone playlist is there too, looks a bit weird but I'm too lazy to remove it right now :)

alpha 6E is soooo slow for me, donno why... so I'm hoping that with alpha 7, it'll be better... so I'm waiting, I got patience.. :) ( spelling? English aint my langauge... )

Doggy Dog
7th May 2001, 20:23
Don't get it, I have Celeron 300A, 64 MB RAM, and Riva TNT, and alpha 6 runs fine for me, hmmm, only that there are problems with loading multiple files in the playlist (they are shown as if they have no lenght 0:00), some skins don't work, and loading skins and Winamp is a bit slow, but the rest is OK.

The skin is wonderful, simple but nice, worthy of W2 Auriga !!!

No, the alpha 6E is just slow for me, so was 1-3, 4 and 5 were great... but it's an alpha version... these things are expected, I don't mind all of this... it'll just get better with time. :)

I'm just waiting for 7, hoping it'll be better, that's all.

They will BOTH be completed, I just started working on the wa3blue/probe skin again, and Lucas is helping me out with some scripting etc. The only thing left on AurigaV3 is some minor changes etc... The thinger is done, I haven't posted an update, because I'm not happy with it. I hate those green icons. They are messing up everything. Is it possible to have a text-only thinger maybe?

I know that nullsoft was trying to do something like that when they wanted a winshade mode for the thinger. I forget where the pic was but it was somewhere in Francis' pics. It may be somebody else for all i know. But it might be coming in later alphas.

I hope u are being sarcastic about this computer sucking. Since a 1.6 Ghz processor, and 1024mb of DDR is almost top of the line. There is only one type of ram that is better than DDR but I don't believe they make it in sticks of 512. The fastest processor I think around is 2.0 Ghz (correct me if I'm wrong) so that system doesn't suck at all. Since when does win2k and redhat suck?

Anyways I am absolutely sure this is a joke since there is no way it isn't. You are listing top of the line shit in every field. Platinum sound card. LOL I wish I had one of those. Anyways good joke. Just stating why this is a joke to the ones who don't understand computer parts.

Junior Member is easier than being a Senior Member. You know that if you post only 30 posts you get to be promoted but us Seniors have to wait from 100 posts to 500 to get a promotion. I have posted 205 as of now and that means almost another 300 before I become a major dude. See as a Senior member you feel like just a bigger member. You don't can brag about being one yet you don't get the respect of a major dude, cause simply you aren't a major dude or someone important. Your just that guy inbetween the small guys and big guys and never get thought about.

Ok sorry about that long utterly useless paragraph but senior members have feelings too.

It might be the font color, I don't know, I never stream music so I haven't used that component. If it is the font color, it will be fixed in the final version, this skin is not complete yet.

Yeah, many of the skins aren't working right now. I think 1 or maybe 2 work (check the bugs if you haven't already).

any chance we'll get an alpha l8r version? it doesn't run right for me, just doesn't show any windows and screws with the popup menu.

lots of skins all of the sudden do not work for alpha L8r. Mine didn't at first. Mainly it is scripting issues and some skin changes.

Actually, the reason a lot of skins don't seem to work with L8R is because something got messed up in the decompression code. Just unzip your skins in the skins folder and they will work fine.

hmm ... it works with alpha 8, but says it was 'designed for a previous version and may crash studio' - and doesn't show up correctly in the skin changer.

kinwashi has a version that fix all that, give him some time.

Please do not take this comment in a critical way but can I just ask why do you (Kinwashi) feel the need to mirror the window title in the title bar e.g. Auriga and Equalizer on the resepective windows.

I don't see how this adds to the design in anyway! Like I said though please don't take this as criticism, I think that your design is VERY nice but I would just like to know your thinking behind it from the designers point of view!

I wish I had your talent in the design field!!! :D

Well, that's they way I did it on the winamp2 version. Don't know why, Just felt the titles needed something more I guess :D

BTW, Maybe this thread should be moved to the winamp3 skinning forum?

hey! don't mock old machines! i've got a p100 with 16megs of ram running freebsd and it's plenty fast enough :)

on a more relevant note, auriga v3 rocks!

I've actualy had winamp running on a 75 mHz pentium before. I think there was about 8 megs of RAM possibly less. Of course if you moved the mouse....;)

Just felt like sharing my little story.

You gotta update this skin for us.

jarsonic

It still works for Beta 1... It says the skin is older and might crash winamp, but it won't. Kinwashi is updating it, don't worry. :D

AurigaV3 isn't being worked on right now, I don't have time for it. I'll pick it up when Probe is done probably.

Please finish this one it is (no offence) nicer than probe (not that probe is bad) i love to keep it in window shade mode so its always in easy reach. I have been using this skin now for at least a month straight now and i love it but could you PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE finish it.

BTW in the playlist at the moment when i search for something the results in the playlist selection part come up with the same tan coloured text as the background - so i cant see the results without highlighting them :(

Is there somewhere I can change text colour/has anyone else had this problem.

Tomato Face
10th October 2002, 01:21
Wow. Probe was sapposed to be finished by now.. As you can see it wasn't and Auriga was never a definate thing. I hope for it to be done way day too of couse, but over a year...yeah, that's a long time for a skin.

Cool skin! Nice looking and not round, a rare combination.

Many buttons are a bit small, and the text in the window seems eternally stuck on "Seek to.."

I have updated Auriga for Winamp 5, as soon as kinwashi says it's ok, I'll release it to the masses. ;)

Hey!

I don't think I'll have the time to update those anytime soon, so go ahead
and release them if you want =)

/Andy (kinwashi)
Well, you heard the man.
Auriga_V5.wal (http://www.fusionamp.com/download/Auriga_V5.wal)

I believe this also means someone is allowed to update Probe beta1 (http://forums.winamp.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=62019) if he so desires.
You can download the original Probe (http://www.revadesigns.net/probe/) here, and a version that will work on Winamp 5, but could use some improvements here:
Probe_V5.wal (http://www.fusionamp.com/download/Probe_V5.wal)
(I quickly added the Standard frame. If you look good, or even not so good, it's the same as in Auriga. ;) )

[Andy, if you find this satisfactory, could you possibly upload it to winamp.com, please?
Thank you very much. :)/]

OMFG PROBE! that skin rocked my world! I was so sad when it stopped working, but now it works again! w00t!

Some amano wishes that could improve both skins:

-Track Notifications
-Color Themes (perhaps some forum members want to contribute)
-PL Winshade (though I know that Wildrose-Wally isn't a big fan).

As I've found out with Lounge, colour themes are frikking nigh on impossible to implement well on any old skin without at least some access to the original PSD's for the skin :hang:

Hey spoons, I went as far as adding an icon to the thinger in Lounge for the notifier :D , might as well make some use for the thinger window :D
