Winamp's Skin screenshots

I don't really want to complain, but these screenshots suck!!!
They look much worse than the real skin! (Why not improve that, Nullsoft?)
Look at this 2 skins:

They look a little better in reality, or did you think that I would paint a BLACK
text-background for a GREY skin?
The same problem for the other one, furthermore it's a bit 'distorted' (volume&balace)
It's annoying. Why cant Winamp's offical site do it right???

Thats JPEG For You - Pity Png Was not supported . Gif editors (free after 30 day ones) are hard to come by.

It sounds like they're using compressed JPEGs. Why don't the Nullsoft folks just use JPEGs with as little compression as possible? Or PNG files like Charmander suggested? Heck, even BMPs would be better than a compressed JPEG. (Well okay maybe not)

Yeah the little automated thing that automatically makes a reduced size jpg of the submitted skin really bites- sometimes it will omit pieces of the skin at random as well and you will get lovely grey squares in the middle of your skin :-/

I may be mistaken here, but don't the skin makers submit screen shots? I beleive it is like that with all user submitted additions.

No. The screenshots are automatically generated, like Xerxes said. The skin makers have no control over that.

Yes. And maybe therefore we should submit the screenshots by ourselves.

yes, my skinpreview picture had blue blocks at the bottom of the equalizer sliders. The program that makes these screenshots sux

Not that it matters cauz my skin got deleted from my account (!) and never even got reviewed after
4 weeks of waiting...

upload again and wait another 4 weeks? or months as
i read in another post, how many reviewers are there ?

Maybe you should complain at Nullsoft. Some other people wrote that their skin has been deleted too. :rolleyes:
I don't know why, but Nullsoft doesn't give reviews any more, only if the skin is one of the "eye candy" skins. (Another point to complain ... ;))

It is self-service but some variations of jpeg arent supported so i could not upload my avs presets from my own computer but dads has a gif editor as part of his office suite so i take advantage of his network link.
