Hey Ryan (or someone)...
remember me? my milkdrop just wont work.. i now know what causes it: my video driver. It worked with the standard-voodoo3-drivers that came with win2k... but then i had to upgade to 3dfx OFFICIAL and Microsoft-CERTIFIED 1.0.4.0 drivers... (because of OpenGL, if u really wanna know).. and know: p00p
0.99 gives me an: "Could not create offscreen surface #1" .. is tat strange or what? =)..

ps: im the first one, fear me.. MUAHAHA..
pps: no watadoo, you DONT count... =)

sorry man... but I have to ask, since you didn't say... did you read the troubleshooting section of milkdrop.txt? It has tips on dealing with this kind of thing. The best trick is to try different color depths, and (much less likely to help), to lower the resolution.
Did you ever run the older beta version with the new drivers? If so, did that work?

yeah i did play around with the resolution, there is no 32bit color on v3 cards, though...
had the same problem with beta 1 and 2, but there was no error-message at that time...
and yes, i read the readme...
and if you have some time, feel free to pay #nullsoft a visit, nice ppl there =) i could also send u the m_debug.txt then..

I'm having the same problem :( Get the "could not create offscreen surface #1 error". I also have a Voodoo 3 3000 and am using windows 2000. Tried all the color depths, but for some reason I couldn't selct any 24-bit options. They just plain didn't show up in the list of options. I'm also using those same drivers Arv spoke of. Never tried any of the betas, just the .99 version and have never gotten it to work yet.

Yeah, I got the same error "Could not create offscreen surface #1" on my Voodoo3 3000 card. I tried modifying all my settings including color depth, screen resolution, but nothing worked. I am running Win2K w. DirectX 8.0.
Let me know if you figure out what is goin on.
Thanks

Well, I just tried the new version, but still nothing. Wish I could use this plugin because from what I hear it is amazing. Just to let you know, memory is definitely not a problem with my machine.

Ryan,
Help! I have tried the beta versions, I have tried every possible screeen resolution and still get the same result.
On a side note, Why does Dremples v1.4 not support active desktop, and 1.3 does? I like to hide my desktop icons, the only way to do that is to enable web content on the desktop, or hack the hell out of the registry.
I look forward to possibly getting to speak with you in person. It seems everytime your in town and hang out with Mark Harris, I just a day late from actually meeting you.
All is good in comeblowus, oh. Your shit ROCKS man! I knew math could be used for something.... :)
