Running win2k sp2, directx 8, latest Creative drivers for Creative Annihilator2 (Geforce2) and SB Live! value. PII 400, 256meg RAM. At any selected resolution Milkdrop pauses during the transition from one visual to the next. Win98SE did not show this behavior on same machine. I've a suspicion that it's a win2k thing. Any tweaking suggestions? (besides another hard drive format?)

I'm borrowing the company's $6000 projector for a party this weekend, it sure would be nice to have things smooth.

Thanks,

DLN

PS - milkdrop is truly dreamy, thanks for sharing!

That's strange. Is the hard drive a piece? =)

Maybe try holding down spacebar for a few seconds at startup, to load a whole slew of presets (i.e. close to all ~100) and see if the slowdown doesn't always happen then, since they might be cached.

Maybe the disk access is bogged. Do you have a virus checker running? If so, try turning it off. Are there any other strange TSR's that might be bogging it? Also, you might want to try creating a small ramdisk and throwing the presets on it, then loading a preset from there (there's a function key to let you jump to any dir., for things like this).

Any feedback on what you tried, what worked, etc. would be great. This is the first I've heard of this, so it might be safe to assume it's just your system, unless we hear otherwise...

Thanks,
-Ryan

Ryan,

Thanks for your prompt response.

I clued into the virus program myself at around 12:30 last night. After disabling Innoculate IT's real-time protection the transitions smoothed out almost perfectly.

I may try the ramdrive as a further tweak.

Thank you for your input, and thanks again for a spectacular plug-in.
