Hi all,
I would like to know if there is any possibility that MD works on a system (P II, 350 MHz, w98) with a diamond monster 3d (voodoo2 chip set). The only thing I get is just a rapidly flickering image (no matter if 16 or 32 bit). All drivers are the newest.
thanks and greetings

Have you tried using version 0.99c? I was having problems before, but now I've downloaded this updated version and things are working for me.

Even v 0.99c brings same results - I guess my system is just too old :(
Altough dremples and geiss are running perfectly.

I have a Monster 3DII installed, with the newest Voodoo2 drivers, but for some reason, Drempels desktop won't run, and says my card doesn't support overlays, and Milkdrop says I have inadequate hardware. Am I simply too old, or is there a way to fix these problems? I've downloaded and tried the newest drivers for both the 3D2 and the Voodoo2, with no help. Thanks

torro, try version 0.99d - I made a few tweaks - maybe they will help... crossing fingers...
Krycid - it sounds like the card is too old for Desktop Mode, and just plain doesn't support overlays (or destination color keying). Anyone seen any evidence to the contrary?
Hi Geiss!
I have a TNT2 and MilkDrop runs perfectly on that, however on my Girlfriend's system - which has an on-board S3 Virge + a 12MB Voodoo2 - MilkDrop just refuses to run.
It displays the "can't create offscreen surface" error.
Does MilkDrop simply use the Primary display no matter what, or does it enumerate the available devices and select the best?
Either way, it doesn't seem to pick the Voodoo2 and tries to fire up the S3.. *snigger*
I hope something can be done about this, I'm sick of her wanting to use my system so she can watch MilkDrop... :D
Cheers!

First of all: dear ryan geiss, thanks a lot for answering personaly
yes, i tried version 0.99d and I crossed all my fingers ;) , but - same results :(
I still hope that milkdrop will work on my system!
Here is some more information concerning my system (maybe I do not have latest drivers for my cards...!? or whatever...):
graphic card: ATI with Rage Pro Turbo AGP 2x chipset driver
(w82560de.exe - the german version of the Windows 9x Display Driver build 4.11.2560)
3D accelerator: Diamond 3D II with 3Dfx driver: v2-w9x-3.02.02.exe
Maybe anyone knows drivers that will work...
I use Direct X 8 and Winamp 2.75
Ryan, please have a look at http://people.freenet.de/thorro/
- I put there 2 pictures of what I see when I run milkdrop (2nd one: stereo 3D mode; fullscreen mode is like window mode) and also the m_debug.txt file.
Thanks a lot again

I used to get a reaction that looked like when I was using a ATI Rage Pro AGP 2x. What I did to fix it was use a different resolution, sometimes it would vary when it would work or not, but after awhile I had to use a very low resolution before it would work. The system was a Win2K box. By the way, is that the Orb backgroud in those snapshots?

Ok, I have a VooDoo2 (I think 12 megs), latest reference drivers, DirectX 8(latest), Winamp 2.75, and an ATI All-In-Wonder AGP card (I think 8 megs). PII, 300, 160megs of RAM, running 1024x768 at 16bit color depth.
I tried all the DirectX diagnostic tests and all my video cards pass all the DirectX tests.
My output looks exactly like this (well, not exactly, but the same type of garbage, heh)...

Tried both 99c and 99d. Works just fine at work on my PIII 600, Windows2K Pro, ATI All-In-Wonder (8 megs I think) and no other hardware accellerator. I seem to think the ATI card at work and home are the same. Both have the latest drivers for the respective versions of windows.
Any help?
