I wonder what my title would be if I weren't a mod...

PP-
I think you should have a different title since you work for Nullsoft and all... Hmm, I wonder why you don't. =/

so why dont you change it for him sarge?

weedsatan
30th May 2001, 13:54
Cuz then he would have to change a lot of ppl's sigs...

nateJC
30th May 2001, 20:02
Yeah, but this is different. PP deserves a special title cause he works for Nullsoft. Maybe if Sarge explained that people would see that they have no right to bitch. Or maybe not, i dunno.

s1138
30th May 2001, 20:06
PP should actually have "admin" or something.
cause its not a special title if your already suppose to have it.

ill change it for you, what do you want?

sgtfuzzbubble011

That would require him being promoted to admin first... Which in itself, I don't know why he isn't to begin with. Having the admin title without the admin capabilities over the boards is kinda pointless, if ya know what I mean.

hey, what's the problem ? i do start yelling when i get really pissed off (about once per 200 posts). i am simply sick of those annoying newbies trying to argue with me. and - yes - i think that the bugs forum needs a more radical moderator (lock/move non-bug threads and to make it easier to find important stuff; it seens that you guys (NS) don't read that forum very often).

rm'
2nd June 2001, 07:19
Yeah, well, life is unfair often. It's my opinion (and my personal opinion, might I add), that you don't need a Ph.D. in social engineering to be a tech support mod. You just need to be able to handle nasty elements, and act cordial. More importantly, you need technical experience and knowledge.

s1138
2nd June 2001, 13:40
so i could be a tech mod?:D

I definitely agree with PP on this one.
We're lucky if 10% of the posts in the bug forum relate to actual bugs with Winamp.
It's more than often due to some dodgy 3rd party plugin, dodgy sound or video drivers, bugs in Win2k/ME, utterly illogical & impractical idiocy, or just plain stupid newbieness :D
Plenty of times I've felt like moving, locking, or deleting threads in there, but I rarely ever do. Though really, most of the "definitely NOT a bug" threads should be moved to TechGen or TechNewbies.
This would then definitely make it easier for NS to root out proper bugs.

Over the past year, I think I've only ever been able to reproduce about 2 or 3 of all the (so called) reported bugs.
The "Add multiple files" bug & the "CD autorun" bug spring to mind.

Some times I feel like posting words to the effect of:
Look . . . this is NOT a bug! Go away you stupid little man ;) :D
It's tempting . . . ya never know . . . maybe just once I might!

Go PP

peter

yo, egg.
about bugs forum - i've got one more idea: official read-only bug list in TSGH. but i wanna be able to post/edit it...

I think that since the levels of some people's posting should give them some weird title. Surprise surprise :)

But, as usual, that will make a competition to get more posts between people, thus starting flaming wars and all that fun stuff

simon snowflake

After the hack thing on the header a month or so ago, I was asked to take everyone off the admin, contol pannl access tap by the powers that be. So no, all Nullsoft employees aren't automatically admins, though originally, a year ago things were set up that way. Hell, even the Nullsoft adminisrative assistant had admin status. That's what freaked out the AOL net security folks -- seeing thirty of forty people with accounts with access to the control panel. Justin himself doesn't have access.
well, i didnt exactly say that all NS employees were admins. it was sorta designed to a an ambigious statement because i saw that bonnie was *just* a mod :D. i'm not going to say that i stand corrected, cuz i was sorta right. so having said that, i, uhh, sit :D corrected.
