View Full Version : MD just displays garbage!!

I've been a big fan of Ryan Geiss' work for a long time. So, I downloaded MilkDrop. Unfortunately, I tried running it, and it just fills my screen with garbage. The funny thing is that the "Press F1 for help" still displays fine, as does the fps display.

I have a ATI Rage Mobility-P card with 8MB of memory, with a PIII-750 Mobile. I know my graphics card has hardware 3d support, and I have the latest drivers. Is there anything I can do to make MD work?

Please let me know, I really want to experience Geiss' latest work!!!!

I completely cleaned out my video drivers and tried reinstalling them, but MD still doesn't work!

Please help!!

I use the ATI Rage Mobility card also and I can't seem to get it to work either.

Yeah, I get the same problem, the screenshots on the web site look so awesome, but all I get is something that looks like colored fuzz on a tv, is this what you guys get? It does appear that the fuzz is on beat, but thats it. I have a pIII 450, and a tnt2 32mb card.

Yeah, that's about what I'm getting. Just looks like colored static on a TV, but is sensitive to the beat, etc.

Are you guys *sure* you have the latest drivers?

If you have an nvidia card, go to http://www.geforcefaq.com (whether or not you have a geforce) on that page are links to various versions of the detonator drivers. Get the latest ones you can find. I'm using v11.00 at the moment. The version of the nvidia website is about v6.

I don't know whether the Rage cards are recent enough to do some of the stuff MilkDrop does...

Yup, that worked for me got the latest nvidia drivers, and it works fine.

When i go to the ATI site it says they don't have any drivers to download. Anybody know where or if the even exist?

I found the solution to the problem!!

I had to find and install the FDv4 Release Candidate 2 drivers by RageLTMan for the Rage Mobility-P cards (and a bunch of others that I can't remember).

I posted the file on my website below. Just go to the winamp section.

Just unzip the file into a new folder, read the setup.html file, and click on the appropriate links. If the links don't work, go into the Dx8d folder, find the linked files, and run them that way. BE SURE TO FOLLOW THE INSTRUCTIONS.

YAY for MilkDrop. It's amazing.

P.S. I chose the non-multimonitor Dx8 vxd and the default D3D HAL in the setup.html file. You'll understand when you see it.
