View Full Version : Why ME?

So Finally s1138, "Official wanna-be mod", has become a moderator. The world should now bw at peace... except now... EVERY STEENKIN MOTHER-FUCKING SON-OF-A-BITCH GOD-DAMN COCK-SUCKING WHORE WANT'S A TITLE CHANGE! (Including me, of course, the mother of all perverted annoying idiots.) Why dosen't the world just bow down to me as world dominator so I can be in eternal peace? Why does the world trod me as crap into the residual shit on the planet and insist that they, of all people, should take the place that is rightfully mine?

I'm learning the ropes again, this is my first time on in months, and I 'd like to be accepted into the Bitchlist again.

Ok, don't wanna sound like a fool, but, as you can see from my posts, I'm new on the forums. So could someone fill me in on Moderators. ie. why does everyone wanna be one and how does anyone get to be one? Cheers.

Mods receive many perks, of which i'm not at liberty to divulge.
Mod slots are pretty much full right now, so getting the position is a wait and see deal.

An administrator (admin) of the forums chooses regular old members to become mods. They are here to make sure conversations don't turn nasty, keep the peace, and spread love. Mods have certain privelages above regular members, such as the ability to view IPs, edit or delete other member's posts, and a couple of kewl topic secret shite.

Mods are chosen based on societal merit, technical skill, or good nature, at the discretion of the admins. Hang around for a while, make friends with everyone, and you may get to become a mod yourself.

Moderators 101:

Good Points
1. Moderators have the privelege to add, delete, move, modify, or otherwise do anything they want to other people's posts.
2. Moderators can set their membership status, ex. Junior Member, to anything they want.

Bad Points
1. Moderators get loads of shit from everyone about doing something, and if they did not do that something, they'd get loads of shit from everyone else.
2. If you are a moderator, you MIGHT actually have to be RESPONSIBLE!!!

Other Points
1. You have to convince someone who works at AOLTWNS... (America On-Line Time Warner NullSoft...) who is qualified, like watadoo, that you should be a moderator. This is impossible.
2. Only ONE person got to be moderator by begging, s1138, and he spent 2093 posts going, "Oh please oh please oh please oh please oh please oh please..." and now owes watadoo $1,000 grand for making him a moderator.

Make your considerations, Lucid DM

Great analysis, Chev. :)

I am one of the many wishing and hoping to one day become a Moderator. Will I spend every single post grovelling and bitch up and down until I get my way like SOME people? HELL NO! I prefer to become a Mod the honest way: by helping folks out, helping newbies to pull their heads out of their Gluteus Maximi, and biding my time. I can just see the Obituaries page now:

Nate Cabral died slumped over at his computer June 1st, 2070. He appeared to be posting to the Winamp.com Forums site, where after 473,926 posts, he uttered his final words: "MAKE ME A MOD YOU GOD-DAMN BASTARDS!!!!!"

:D

I still don't see why everybody wants to be a moderator. Do you know how much time that would take. I'm allready spending hours a day on this board, but I can't read all new posts in the forums.

gluteus max·i·mus (mks-ms)
n. pl. glutei max·i·mi (mks-m)
The largest and outermost gluteus.
Hmm, is it bad that I know this?

one day there was a boy named john. he was a member in the winamp forums. one day, watadoo came to him and said "would u like to be a mod?" he said yes, and the watadoo said "you have a php enabled webserver, right?" and john said no. watadoo said "u cant be a mod unless u have a php enabled webserver" john was sulky and dejected. on his way home through cyberspace, he decided to buy a website. he bought it and then sold it 2 weeks later for 10x what he paid for it. he kept doin this and made a billion dollars. at this point he started a porno mag. he became rich and sucessful and was surrounded by beautiful women. one day, his tech guru was working on a new porn database, and was having trouble gettin it to work. john said "thats cus this server doesnt have php on it" and then the tech guru said "just imagine where you'd be if you had a php-enabled webserver!" and john said "i'd be sitting at home, poor, and still a virgin, and i'd be a mod on the winamp forums".

yes. it is corny. but its just to prove that there are better things than being a mod. porn, for instance :D

Hmmmm....I think maybe I'm one of the only people in the WHOLE Winamp.com universe that actually DOESN'T want the responsibilities of a mod....:D I'm actually happy just bitching out all the people who are idiotic enough to actually beg, grovel, and just insult the people who are mods. Envy does not make people very nice in these forums does it....

12th June 2001, 01:33
Hey, I don't want to deal with all these whiny, pathetic losers (tongue firmly planted in cheek;)) on the forums either. I have enough responsibilities to shirk, I don't need more. :D

You guys/gals need to understand the restrictions that we face as moderators.
It sucks that we can't speak our minds/are limited in the way we express our thoughts. At times I wish I was still a member so that I can push the boundaries of the flaming edge.
Those of you who follow my posts know, however, that I definitely push the envelope.......and I never lick the damn things(search for my thread on licking envelopes and contracting cockroach eggs by way of papercuts)ICKY!

Here it is:

While on the topic, I have a question. I suppose it doesn't directly relate to moderating, but I would like to know about the levels of membership. What are they? Something like Junior Member (1-29), Member (30-99), Senior Member (100-299??), Major Dude, (400-???), ??.

always wondered about that...

-James

nateJC
13th June 2001, 17:41
Sigh, here we go again, folks...

Junior Member = 0-29 posts
Member = 30-99 posts
Senior Member = 100-499 posts
Major Dude = 500-? posts

The only other titles are Moderator and Administrator which are appointed by Nullsoft staff.
