Has anyone had any experience connecting the Windows Media Encoder to a SHOUTcast server?
The way the two systems works is similar, the encoder connects to the server via IP address and port, and the Microsoft codec and be set to stream in MP3 format. (Obviously you have to have a copy of NT Server to run windows media services..:-) The Microsoft Codec is a much simpler striped down codec that is ideal if you doing is taking an existing audio signal and encoding it.
