Ok well whenever I open the Shoutcast Server program and hit connect it waits about 30 seconds and then tells me yp.shoutcast.com error (Cannot Connect) and stuff like that. Well I have a Linksys Firewall and was thinking that possibly it was causing me from not being able to connect to Shoutcast's server. I think it has to do with a port number. Please someone help me... (oh and please dont give me the URL to the FAQ because I already read those)...
Thanks,
Getset
Could you paste the exact error message here so we can get a little more info. Also what Linksys firewall are you running (is it in a router or something else?).

This is the message it gives me:
[yp_add] yp.shoutcast.com gave extended error (Connection timed out 24.182.153.86:8000 check shoutcast.com troubleshooting)
I am running a hardware firewall (not a software). It is a 4 port Cable/DSL Router with also 4 Wireless ports. The Router model # is BEFW11S4 if that helps any.
I hope you can help...

Okay two quick questions.
1) Is the IP in that error 24.-------- yours?
Solution: Edit the config file in the DNAS and set Yport=666 instead of 80
2) Have you setup port forwarding on the router to forward port 8000 and 8001 to the machine running the DNAS?
Soultion: Take a look at the manual and setup port forwarding (most likely will have to assign static IPs to each machine on the LAN).

Ok thanks Tom...
No that is not my IP in that "Timed out" error. I believe that that's Shoutcast's IP.
I will go screw around with my Firewall stuff...

Tom,
I actually got it to work!!! I opened up ports 8000 and 8001 on my firewall and it works.
BUT, I got some friends to listen to it and they said that it sounds horrible and it has to buffer about every 15 seconds. Also, after about 3 minutes of the server being run it locks up on me and I loose my whole internet connection. It seems like it is cutting off my internet every 3-4 minutes and making me restart my computer. Is there anything I can do???

Check to see if you have a program called Webhancer, and if you do remove it through the Add/Remove panel in the control panel. If you don't then post back here and we'll start moving around some plugins (also may want to get a copy of adaware and see if you have any other spyware that maybe causing this. Just do a search on google and I'm sure you'll find it).
Also are you using version 1.7.0 of the DNAS (it has some problems)?

Hey Tom, noticed that you mentioned something about Webhancer. I've seen it on my computer...
What does it actually do?
cheers

Sheepy Deepy,
Here's a quote from a reply I got from them regarding these problems.
"Our webHancer Customer Companion gathers data on the performance of the web sites that you visit, so that we can help the web sites that you visit improve their performance for the next time you visit them."

I thought shoutcast yp only supported port 80, if this is true it may be able to fix my problem. Now all I have to get back onto the server where it's stored. Not very easy... hehehehe
