what is this homestead crap

alright seeing as I can't post anything picture wise in these threads and it gets annoying with screenshots and sigs and all. So I heard that some people in here use homestead and when I get there I see the biggest piece of sh*t in my life.

-First off, they brag about giving you 17 MB. Heck they even brag about building your site for you, I could uild a better one myself. I visited a few of their sites and they weren't too good.

-Secondly I had to sign up twice and it still doesn't work. It won't let me use the site builder tool, maybe its a java applet because my computer can't run applets cuz i broke it.

-I didn't even get the usual confirmation e-mail most ppl send when u sign up for stuff.

So I am askin wtf is wrong with the site and how do i get to the builder, everytime i log in it says loggedin and goes to the main homestead page again.

Lastly is there another site that lets you post links because I'd really hate having to use homestead.

yes i still find homestead to be crappy even after i looked at your site. I like ine better, besides looking at your 197 hit counter I say mine's gotten hitten more. That ugly little banner at th bottom is annoying, at least with geocities you can cover it up. I prefer my combination of geocities, and tripod for the file storage, but now i use angelfire for picture storage, and pics in here (thanks to iversson). So I use a combo of three sites, with everything linking here or to the geocities one.

If you wanna compare sites simon you can click the link in my sig, but please don't leave threatening messages in my guestbook, I got enough of that last time I started a flame war.

Hmmm that is all. I think. O yea, i didn't say homestead sites were crappy, I said homestead was, kinda like saying peanut butter in itself sucks but placed with jelly and some toples grannies its cool.

yeah, i do, but they make it like allmost impossible to figure out how it works.
And about the brinkster part. I tried that but it did not work out to good. Guess I'll have to try again.

What ISP is that then Simon?

I'm guessing here, but if it's anything like mine, and a few others I've seen, You will need a half decent FTP client for your pc, the FTP address of your ISP, usually,its.... ftp.ispname.com and your "web space" user name/password, that again in most cases is your primary log in name and password.

Most ISP FTP sites are UNIX standard server type, esspecialy the ones running apache server types.

Your site address from there is usualy

http://www.yourisp.com/~yourusername.

I used to get 20mb's for free from my ISP (free aswell) but now that I have DSL and another ISP, I can't upload things to the old one anymore :( So I too need another hosting server for ampburner.com ...any suggestions other than brinkster? The following features would be nice:

ftp access
no banners/popups

I don't really need lots of space, I just want to put some images/skins etc on there.
