GameBoy Advance (http://www.gameboy.com/intro_frame.html)
Have you gotten yours yet?
I got one a few weeks ago and I'm in love with it... I carry it in my pocket with me at all times.
I even discovered the hidden potentiometer screen control in the rear (however doing so is almost enough to void my warranty).

Get the Sony Clié (http://www.sonystyle.com/vaio/clie/) handheld. It's a Palm that plays MP3s. And it's bright as daylight!

It's my duty in the Winamp Forums to keep the relevance of replies at a low level, as it should be. :D

GBA is best played in direct sunlight or under fluorescent lights such as in a classroom. Funny.

My son wanted one so he could play it at night in the car while designated driving me around to the bars:p
Guess that idea is shot(dark display?)
so let me get this straight. You were going to let your son drive you around whilst he was playing on his GBA? Does he not have to look at the road?

Yes, the Game Boy Advance has a very poorly backlight screen, making it very hard to see what the hell is going on in your game. The Web comic strip Penny Arcade pointed this out rather humourously here (http://www.penny-arcade.com/view.php3?date=2001-06-13)

Sorry, but what's a potentiometer and if it is what I think it is, what possible use is it?

A potentiometer is very much like a volume knob.
po·ten·ti·om·e·ter (p-tnsh-m-tr)
n.
An instrument for measuring an unknown voltage by comparison to a standard voltage.
A three-terminal resistor with an adjustable center connection, widely used for volume control in radio and television receivers. Also called pot.
Not THAT kind of pot:p

A potentiometer is basically a variable resistor.
Anyhow, the GBA does not have a poorly backlit screen. The screen is not backlit at all!
If you don't mind cutting battery life down to a few percent of what it is on the GBA, then fine, take yer backlit bull :D

it's all a conspiracy, they sell you the GBA, and make it so that the display is dark. then they come out with an attatchable light and WHAMO they jack up the price!

you're using the term 'backlit' very loosly here, the 'back' part of back-lit pertains to the light being behind the screen, like the computer monitor you're staring at now or a TV. the lights for the GBA are all mounted in front of the picture. There was a version of the GameBoy Pocket that had a backlit screen, but it never made it out of Japan. Neo said it best when he sated "..Not backlit at all!" lol anyway, here's the link you guys wanted to the pentiometer screen thingy (http://pocket.ign.com/news/35946.html) article at IGN.
