Trying to Add an Effect: Render / Picture

How do I get pictures to load into that pull down menu? Am I miss understanding the purpose of the effect? ie. To render an image file? Or does it have some other mystical purpose? :)

Just put a .bmp in your AVS directory and then it'll automaticly show up.
