View Full Version : Milkdrop, Win2k and 3DFX (How to FIX it)

Hi, I had the same problems as a lot of you here have posted previously.

I am running Win2k Pro with SP2, PIII 800, and have a Voodoo 5500 AGP inside, (yes the infamous "no support" card that Nvidia so kindly refuse to provide drivers for) :(

Anyway, I'd tried all types of 3dfx drivers in order to get Milkdrop to work on my machine, v1.0.4.x from 3dfx never worked, neither did Omega Drives' dll fixes..

By pure accident I found the fix. Uninstall your 3dfx drivers and reboot, then, if you didn't move it already, find Windows Update on the Start menu,

Microsoft have a 3dfx Voodoo driver set on there (which should show up on the Products Update list). if it doesn't show I guess you can find it by searching their compatability updates,

simply update your Voodoo drivers from Windows Update, reboot, and voila.. Milkdrop works perfectly in all modes.

weird why MS have a diff. driver set from the ones listed on the 3dfx site, but nonetheless it works for me, and my brother's machine running Win2k (no SP) on an Athlon 1200 with a Voodoo 5500 PCI.

Milkdrop is pure excellence.. finally it works great and beats the original Geiss plugs by far.

I hope this tip will help others enjoy it as I have..

Cheers,
Ax!s

hmm
thats not that goof after all
win2k drivers may work for direct3d stuff like geiss, but they dont support opengl and thats inacceptable...

And the MS 3dfx drivers do not support TV-Out, which is (was) essential for me.
Buy a Kyro II and be happy.
