They ain't gonna give up on this one...I think we should list all the CDs any of us get that we have problems with, in here or something, so we know which ones to avoid or try out for ourselves.

Sure it's no problem and you can record it through Line In, but somehow I dun' think everyone will do that...

Hehehe, I'll download all my mp3s off you then ;) Apparantly though, there's software out there which is quite old and it still does the job on the new CDs :D There's a link about it on that page :p

To Burn any protected cd's just use clone cd or RAW mode. But to make mp3's you need a cracked vxd file which makes the computer think that audio cd files are wav files

Ego, Rev, Team GAY (yes it's really called that) and other big ripper groups are quite aware of such recording industry schemes and will be no problem for ya mp3 pirates ;)

If the RIAA or whatever try to forbid our right to making personal copies this will cause more of a backlash from consumers as Cnet said. But also for those companies whose profits rely on mp3 players and the continuation of the format.

I have some CDs that I can't rip in secure mode in EAC, but they weren't released recently (or on a major label)

Whatever......

Some of the new protection schemes spit out noise even when you rip it in RAW...but I'm aure there's a way...

There will eventually be a way around it.

I want to rip my cd's into Mp3Pro. I am using Nero right now, but do any of you know of an encoder that allows bitrates higher than 96kbps?

Well... There is a nice input plug-in for winamp.. KazaA allows sharing of mp3pro files... Nero has a good encoder.. so I like it!

I challenge you to crack this (http://www.bbspot.com/News/2001/08/encrypt.html) scheme.

relax :p there will be programs on the web to read this cd's too... the protection isnt that good, a cdplayer can read it, too, isnt it? the protection only works when you do digital audio extraction. I believe nero WITH jitter correction could probably already fix the problem... or the winamp plugin I use for cdreading, an more advanced cdreader as the standard supplied. to find in the winamp plugins section!
BTW isnt it stupid? we have the right (yes we do!) to make personal copies of our cd's. for personal use. Just like I do - I have a coppy of nearly all my cd's because I live in 2 places, and I dont want to buy them twice... And, its legal!!! but in this way, you cant make any more copys... so that protection is in fact illigal, and we could sue THEM!!! isnt that great ? :D

Jos - the best loser in the world :) ;)

OK. So the fascists are not going to let us rip our OWN CDs. I have an answer -- ANY artist that records on these copy protected labels -- do not support -- no concrets -- no CDs -- call radio and ask them to NOT play.
