Boy is amazed that girl even pays him any attention.
Boy freezes up, and forgets everything except blind panic.
Girl thinks "What an idiot he is" as she walks off.

Reminds me of something that happened earlier this year in a nightclub:

-Boy sees girl, thinks "She's the finest girl I've ever seen"
-Girl smiles at boy
-Boy almost feints from shock that such a godess even knows he exists
-Boy is so shellshocked he cannot talk to girl
-Boy finds out from girl's flatmate that she's single
-But the night is already over
-Boy doesn't see girl again for 3 weeks. Boy then finds out that girl has acquired boyfriend "about 2 weeks ago, i think" from her friend.

-Boy almost makes move, but chickens out because boyfriend, reasonable bloke as it happens, is present.
-Girl occasionally sees boy and boy begins conversation, however, he really regrets being so shellshocked on that first night, and is angry with himself for being so dumb, and missing his chance.

Feelings bite. I think I'll have mine surgically removed, neuter myself and finally have myself cloned so I can inflict another generation of myself on humanity.
