Hi, I have two computers, Fred, which is connected to the net, and John, who is in my room. Fred and John are networked. I installed Shoutcast on the onto Fred, and installed the Shoutcast plugin for WinAmp on John, and typed in Fred's address in the configuration. The shoutcast server works fine.

Here is the problem... On Fred, I would like Shoutcast to launch automatically on startup, and be hidden. I tried putting it in the Startup folder but the console or GUI comes up. My family uses the computer and they don't want to keep pressing "Hide Monitor" every time they turn on the computer.

Any suggestions?

Nick

Hi,

You can get a program called "The Wonderful Icon" that does a whole bunch of stuff, including launching programs with it when it starts and automatically having them hidden. With it, you can set the console (or gui) to open with the wonderful icon (at startup) and TWI will start it with an icon in the systray. It's also nice because you can set up hotkeys for a whole lot of "common" commands like universal volume and mute buttons, etc.

You'r talkin about the SHOUTcast server right???
If so, mine starts up with Windows and it minimizes to the stray on startup, just by adding the shortcut to the Windows Startup Folder.

Okay, well, you've already got it in the StartUp folder, next you need to set it to "run minimized". Right-click on the icon that is in the startup folder and choose 'properties' You'll find the setting in there. The options are 'Normal', 'Minimized', and 'Maximized'
