Okay, finally, I have the northern lights photos in hires (http://photo.felibarr.org/images/hires/), but modem users, beware! :)
Each photo is about 2.5 mb each.
Well, now I'm off, have to run some errands, we have a Nikon speedlight that is broken.
Well, later folks. :)

Cool Pics! Luckily I am using cable modem. You could make the pics smaller though so our dial up friends could see also!

Have a great day.

Actually, the standard for my photos is 500 pixels wide, I put those hi-res photos there by request. :)

Ah, oh, I get it, I don't have that problem. ;)
Although, I think that the remotes wire can be seen on some of those northern-lights photos. :p

jns

Could be our server being slow, although I doubt it, I'm the only one who uses it. :D

excellent photos jns, just a couple of questions:

They seem pretty grainy - what film were you using to take them> Ever consider using slide film - especially Agfa CTx films for their pastel colors. Kodak Ektachrome is good too for their contrast, albeit a little unbalanced - too much blue.

PS. nice scanner!! I'm using the HP Photo Smart S 20 Photoscanner at the moment - have to upgrade to a Nikon Coolscan soon :)

jns

Fuji, 400 ASA.
Yeah, get it! Best scanner I've ever used. :)

you should try a lower res film 100 or 200 max. Makes no difference if you're mounted on a tripod. Don't leave the shutter open for more than a minute though, or the rotation of the earth will make the stars seem like lines.

jns
28th September 2001, 14:14
Yeah, I know, there are l33t things that'll make the camera rotate so te stars'll show as they are supposed to. :)

. - .... .- -. ....
28th September 2001, 14:17
Unfortunately these things cost money - I think I'll stick to my $70 tripod for now :)

high res scans only work when printed out off computer, but screens now-a-days can only see 96dpa, older ones, 72dpa :(

it sux0rz i wouldn't mind seeing 600dpa on my screen

but that's why if you create a photo in adobe and put the res to 600 or something the image is huge! because ur screen can't show it the way it'll be printed
