I'm currently enjoying Milkdrop (0.99g, running under 2.77) in fullscreen mode, listening to "Lucky Ball & Chain" by They Might Be Giants. I pressed F2 to display the artist/title of the track. To my surprise, it was displayed as:
They Might Be Giants - Lucky Ball _Chain
Mysterious, no? And then it hits you: this is Windows doing automatic-underlining of what it thinks is a keyboard shortcut--it's turned "& " into "_" (an underlined space). You can reproduce the behavior by having a single ampersand anywhere in the text that's displayed by F2 (by default, "%artist% - %songtitle%").
The fix is either to a) turn off this auto-underlining behavior, which varies depending on how that text is getting up on the screen, or b) to quote the ampersand by doubling it. (Changing the ID3 tag to read "Lucky Ball && Chain" made the title display properly in Milkdrop fullscreen mode.)
