I'm not really happy with this preset as it is. I stumbled across the effect, which can be cool - sorta like a round version of musicbox. I had planned to have the waveform spinning (wave_mystery = wave_mystery + n*time), but I was unable to reproduce the effect at any other angles. >=\
So I instead tried to produce a Geiss-like colour scheme (mainly orange/brown, red for bass, blue for treble), but was unable to get satisfactory results.
So as it is, it's a reasonably interesting effect which could use just a little extra spice. I've got some zooming response to the music, but it's not quite enough. See what you guys think...

As you can see, I could use a decent name for it as well. =]

Maybe it's enough to be a full preset. I don't know. But some ideas would be nice.

I didn't touch the effect (which is awesome) but I *think* I figured out something like what you wanted for the color cycling and added in a bit of extra wacky fun for the mid-range waves.

I used a bit more code than I really needed to, but hopefully it'll be easy to read and see what I'm doing this way.

Hrm, I just notice I could have tweaked the net effect the same way.


As for the effect, I still haven't played with it. I did find it cool that only the stuff at y=.5 gets stretched out as it's spun. You can get some pretty crazy effects just playing around with where you place the wave.

It's a great preset all-in-all, and I've had a ton of fun playing with it. Krash is da man! :)

Um, is cyclic insanity right? It seem very monochrome, even though there's code in there for the wave colours. Not sure what the deal is with that... check you posted the right code.

I had the same problem Krash but to me when the image is monchrome like that it means that there is an error in the per_ code and no per_ code will execute. That is why it is b&w and no borders, etc.

And although there was no apparent error when I looked at the per_frame equation massive though it was and you get

notice the net_effect (the first one) half the info is cut off.

If you look in notepad where I presume you cut and pasted the milk to.
per_pixel 11 actually covers 2 lines. I think it is a windows /notepad thing. Delete this leading space so it all on one line and as if by magic the shopkeeper appears. (sorry that may be an english TV joke).

Anyway that is the problem,

I've gone back and tripple-checked, and it has to be a notepad thing, as there's no line-break in there. Sorry for the confusion, I have no clue why I made notepad my .milk file handler when I have better editors.

What I meant unchained was when we saved your milk (cut and pasted) it messed up in notepad. Maybe we should start attaching zips....
