The destination folder can be changed only once. That is, It starts at c:\. If you change to dir "A" it will stick when you end Winmp. The next time you run Winamp it will say dir "A". If you then change the destination to dir "B", it will work as long as Winamp runs for that session. If you end Winamp then restart it, the destination dir will be back to "A". This does not happen with P.P.'s out_acm.dll V 1.4.

winamp/plug-ins directory, make sure plugin.ini is NOR read only (right click and select properties)

The relevant settings are actually saved in winamp.ini (main winamp dir)

[WAV Writing Output Driver]
config_waveoutdir=

Make sure ^this^ file is not read-only

Checked both files. Neither is read only. Does it help any to tell you that it's brother, ACM Wave Writer 1.4 (out_acm.dll) does not have this problem?

sorry, can't reproduce
probably another case of windoze's ini file size limit. open winamp.ini in notepad and remove any unused crap; also consider removing some plugins if you don't need them anymore.

 What? A winamp.ini file of more than 64kb ?!?!
Mine's about 9kb, what's yours Ampian?

Maybe just delete winamp.ini
then open Winamp and reset everything to back to your personal taste?

Sounds like there's some conflicting entry, maybe a double entry?

Alternatively:
Basic Uninstall -> Reinstall procedure (http://forums.winamp.com/showthread.php?threadid=50818)

I'll give those suggestions a try.

also, out_disk winamp.ini i/o code is 100% the same as in last out_acm (except for different section name)

Tried suggestions, no joy. Will try on other machines Monday or Tuesday.

Found the cause: I was using Winamp 2.76 _with_ out_acm.dll. When I installed 2.77 the new version of out_disk.dll was also installed. Out_acm.dll was _still_ in the directory. When you mentioned that both use the same code... Well, live and learn. When I uninstalled 2.77, then re-installed it, out_acm.dll was deleted and so was the problem.

Figures, hehe ;)
No need for out_acm.dll anymore

hmm, last out_acm was a hacked out_disk beta, it might be accidentially using out_disk config settings. ouch.
