Winamp coders! please make this work for the next beta ;)
only for spanish talkers: Si hay algo que he traducido mal o no del todo correctamente, decidme la traducción correcta y la arreglaré :)

I've attached espanol.txt (you have to put it to /locales, rename to espanol.xml and change locales in winamp menu, my sister can do it, i hope you too, jejeje [hehehe])

I've made a web page for locales.

I've put all locales i've found in this forum.

If anyone haves any locale and wants to share it, send me it to my mail, and i'll upload it to the web:

http://www.navegalia.com/personal/juanmah

There still are the same disfuncionalities (still its beta 1). In the next beta there will be any changes in locales??

Hi there,

let's see if i can help you with a small hint considering the special letters...

You simply need to replace those special letters with Unicode-snippets, which are written like "***nnnn;" (using decimal values for nnnn) or "***xnnnn;" (using hexadecimal values for nnnn). Have a look at http://www.unicode.org/charts for those numbers. There are charts in PDF format including mostly all signs and letters that are written anywhere in the world.

Got that while translating :winamp: 3 to German.

Greetz and good luck

Those ADD, SEL, DEL, ... buttons in the playlist are not controlled by the locales, but they are graphics, controlled by the skin.

wrong!
you can chang them!
open the .wac files with a hex editor
but it is senseless.
more people do not use the standard skin and which word can i use in German if i have only 3 letters to take.

you can get a german local for the winamp3 full (488)
if you click on the link in my sig.

@zenken
can you take my local on your page, i think the others are for older betas...

der1: thanks for the information. I'll try it. I got that charts.

PJay Tycy: I know that these buttons are not controlled by locales, it for this that i've make a list that locales cannot change.

VOODOOpower: Ok, give me your german translation.

btw: My German Locale is now available on Winamp's site: http://www.winamp.com/components/detail.jhtml?componentId=118596

But there are still some things that simply cannot be translated with a locale XML file, because the words and phrases are controlled by the .wac files. Changing these means changing parts of Winamp3 (This means if you have a german .wac running and changing Winamp3 back to the English "Locale", those german pieces from the .wac-files keep stuck).

The other way is to make copies of those .wac files (like sytem_deu.wac) and tell Winamp to use those .wac-files. This on the other hand means to change the wasabi.dll being the main part of the program. I think it would be easier to have the source of Winamp and to translate this one instead.

I know it's tricky to explain and even harder to understand, but within a locale XML only it is still impossible to translate Winamp completely (as far as i know).

So long

Now there is 309 translations, all in wa3 that is able to be translated. It is in my webpage.

There is a blank template for anyone who wants to translate all to a language. der1, i've just downloaded your language. Maybe it will be in next version.
