I would talk about them, but I don't see the topics, so i can't join a conversation that hasn't started yet.

ah hA!

remember the time when SLK tried to run over s1138, while distortion just sat and watched, man those were the days! :)

I no longer read the articles.
And even when I did, I didn't have that much to say about them either.

Know what I don't get, is how certain people (Bible huggers) think they have a say in who is going to hell and who is not. Really pisses me off. They should find better stuff to do in their free time.

So is Winamp.com trying to become the Onion or something? If I want to read stories like the Frankenstein one, that's where I would go. If I want to find out news about Winamp or the music industry, I go to Winamp.com. Now, if I go to Winamp.com to read stories I usually find at the Onion, where do I go to find out news about Winamp?

Very good point.
I'm not on strike Bill :)
I just never thought the articles were the most interesting feature of the website.

As one of the part time article writers myself, I find stuff like this to be an interesting diversion from the normal winamp/muic related articles, a bit of light relief if you like.

Variety is the spice of life, besides there are plenty of other music/skins/winamp/plugin type articles published as well, dosn't hurt to deviate once in a while.

Personnaly, I'm just glad they got the system working again, think it's one of the better, more dynamic parts of the winamp.com site.

Well, since you asked...

This is going to be unpopular, but, oh well.

The "quality" of the many of the stories leaves a lot to be desired. I wouldn't expect Pulitzer prize winning writing, but there are often GLARING ERORS in the spelling and grammer. And, often, I find the overall tone of the articles to be WAY too informal. Perhaps, some more editorial work, like letting someone proofread it before posting, would help a lot. Some of the "bunny attacks" and "frankenstein" type articles really should be journal entries or forum posts. Also, some very interesting topics that come up in the forums ought to be brought out to the news section. When mods or winamp employees notice a good thread, write up a short synopsis of it and post the synopsis in News, and link to the thread.

And, articles with headlines like "Winamp3 Blows...devlopers minds" should be avoided. Because the news boxes only show "Winamp3 Blows...", which might be funny to an insider, but certainly doesn't reflect well to people who don't know what Winamp3 is all about.

Finally, I'd like to expand on what icewind43 was getting at, please put more articles dealing with Winamp itself in. Winamp2 or Winamp3 tips and tricks could be a whole series of articles. Shoutcasting is another good topic. And if the article doesn't answer enough questions, they would have the link at the bottom to discuss it with the author/other users.

There, you have your comments, please don't beat me up now :)

I know it's not possible to fix now, because the developer has been layed off by AOLTW, but direct commenting on the article is the best way to generate comments. People want to see their thoughts directly below the main thread, not buried on a message board instead. It's really that simple. Look at the successful site that generate comments - this is how they do it.

Well since your articles don't show up half the time, it's hard to read them. Like two days ago when they were down again even after you claimed you had fixed them. What dbase are you using btw for storing the info? MySQL? No, but some of the articles are indeed quite funny esp. the ones where you bitch about each other ;) - RT

Which is why the articles have been pulling a disappearing act.

MTV uses Dynamo too, and I have seen their news page screwed over because of dynamo errors too.

Who the hell else uses dynamo I wonder?

If I were a mean-spirited guy, I would say that, since you seem to have quite an obsession for bilbo(is this a guy?), why don't you just go ahead and set YOURSELF up with him, her, or whatever is left?

I have no need for bilbo or anyone else because Mrs. Grandpa7 is a wonderful wife who keeps her husband well satisfied and happy. So, no, I don't need or want a date with bilbo...he's all yours!

Bye!

I'm pretty sure Bilbo only dates himself. Wink, wink. Nod, nod. :D

And Bill, Eric Clapton IS God. So I guess you'll have to put up with me in hell as well as here. ;)

And rest assured Steve, a lot of us read and enjoy the articles.
