Since I was having quite a few problem makeing my other skin in the way I would like (I will probobly have to use a bunch of drawers), I decided to wip up another skin based on the same colors. Here is a pic:
http://wam.umd.edu/~bryceb/tga.jpg

The only problem I am having is the vertical volume bar doesn't remember its position or rather it inverts it. If you move it to the top, close and reopen it is at the bottom. The volume remains unchanged. If you close and reopen again it stays at the bottom. So it only inverts the slider if you move it. (3/4 up makes it 3/4 down etc.) If anyone wants to help me with this I would be greatful. Just download the attached zip to look at what I did.

Also my .wals never seem to work. I zip up just the contents of my skin folder and save with the extention "wal" I have winamp pick that skin and it won't show the player everything else but the player.

Here is a new version of the skin added a readme, skinshot and changed the vis to nonstandard. Pic at top of post reflects the changes.

Drwho, What are you using to zip the file? Winamp doesn't like files that have been zipped with "max compression", and I think that by default, WinZip (the most popular windows zip tool) uses max compression. I don't know what Zipped Folders uses under Windows ME and above. I used to recommend Power Archiver, because it was powerful and free, but it is no longer free :(.

Just trying to help, I might be way off on this one :)

I think I even tried it on none but that didn't work either.

Another thought:

You could provide your skin in an NSIS installer. BlueKeyDesign and I were throwing out some ideas for NSIS in another thread, relating to winamp3 skins, but it's easy enough to pacakge up the skin folder and let the user install it. I'll make one for you, if you'd like :)

Thanks but maybe when it is done. I'm working on the eq at the moment. Then playlist, then I don't know what.

That's fine, but if you install NSIS, I can send you the script that makes the installer and it will work through the different versions, picking up new files and whatnot automatically. Then you just need to right-click on the script in explorer and "Compile NSI" whenever you feel you have a version that you want the public to see. It's fine with me if you just feel like waiting, but I already have the script worked out, so it really isn't any trouble at all. Makes distributing a whole lot easier for newbies and whatnot.

I guess if you aren't going to release a bunch of "beta" versions of the skin, there's no point in doing all that.

BTW, I haven't mentioned yet, that I like your design, and can't wait to have the full skin. VERY USEFUL!!!

One small suggestion: There is very little room to grab the skin to drag it around...maybe you could denote a "drag" area just below the volume, or somewhere else?

Thanks,

Here is a picture of the most recent changes:

They are shading on the background, button colors changed, eq complete except of the vis color problem as per my other post.

I'm working on the studio files now. Colors are all done but the buttons and positions need work and I need help on this as per my other other post.http://wam.umd.edu/~bryceb/tga2.jpg

Maybe you should change the colors and of the vis/font etc to fit the rest of the skin...

Blue vis, blue font and the purple status

drwho9437

So you recomend blue title, blue vis, blue time, and the play, pause, stop to be purple?

Is that right?

I am still strugling with the studio stuff. There doesn't seem to be ways to eliminate or change certain items. (For instance I want the fonts in the pl to be smaller to match the other part of the skin.)

I think he meant that those things could be set to other colors that better match the skin...

I kinda liked the blue but this is good too probobly most people will like it more so I will change it over. If I find some time, I will skin the thinger this week and release a complete (if buggy (read vertical vol bar/eq vis problems)) version of the skin.

Still incomplete but due to the high number of downloads of the previous two zips which are horrably out of date here is a new one.

You'll need to unzip it to get it to work.

The people spoke on the red and blue. I will make the pl text smaller once it is possable. I don't think it is for now, beta 2 as I recall. Thanks for your comments.
