View Full Version : Win XP & Winamp 2.77 -> Freezes while fast-forwarding

Sometimes Winamp 2.77 freezes while fast-forwarding (Numpad 9).
When this happens the Winamp process needs almost 100% CPU-capacity.
Only shutting down (task manager) resolves this problem.

I havent installed any 3rd party plug-in.
With Win 98 this hasnt ever happened.

My configuration:
PIII 600 MHz, 256MB RAMBUS, GForce, Soundblaster, unknown Mainboard :)
I have NOT installed any Soundblaster stuff.

Just with keypad 9 or with rt cursor arrow as well?
With both WaveOut and DirectSound Output plugins?
With all input formats? (mp3, wav, mid, cda, etc)
With every track? Or is it format/track specific?

with right cursor too and with every mp3 i've played.
I will test the other possibilities soon.

i've got the same problem (with wavout as output, haven't tried directsound as it doesn't work very flawless :D). i'm not sure, but i think it has something to do with the new mpeg decoder. i can't remember having such a thing with nitrane. try to lower the priority of the decoder to normal. lookups with the default priority (highest) are very hard to kill, since it takes ages to even load the taskmanager

i'm using winamp 2.77 under xp
souncard is a sblive with newest drivers from creative for xp.

I also have this problem with all mp3s.
I only use Numpad 9 :)
I use the standard output as installed, dont know which this is...
Meanwhile I tried Winamp 2.76 and new Soundblaster (Live! Value) XP drivers -> same problem...

If you change the output option to DirectSound it is fixed
