hi

I am broadcasting from a cable modem and I am just wondering if my listeners on a 56k modem will be able to listen OK...

I assume that other people with a high connection will be OK... do I have to do a different setup for 56k users?

I want to do a live 2 hour show on Sundays and at other times I just want it to play through my playlist of mp3s that way keeping it on 24/7... anyone know how to do this? what directory do the mp3's have to be and will winamp display the track names?

please help in any way you can, i would really appreciate it...

thanks in advance...

First you must understand bandwidth.

You need to know your Cable Modem's maximum upload speed.

56k users don't have as much bandwidth as you do.

If you want to broadcast only to 56k'ers. You should
select 24kbit/sec. That way, they have sufficient bandwidth left
for things like browsing the web, Instant Messenger, ect.

Now. For MAX users setting. If you're on cable... I don't know, you might not be able to broadcast to many users.

Say you have a 128kbit/upload Cable connection

128 divided by 24 ... That's your MAXIMUM users setting.

Not many people, is it?

If this is a professional thing, you need to get a Shoutcast shell.
Where you upload to a server that has sufficient bandwidth to handle a lot of users.

So it would be like you only having to broadcast to one user.

And that one user broadcasts to thousands of users.

If this didn't help... I'm sorry. :)
