I've noticed recently a bug with the progress variable (this one must be a real headache, eh Ryan? =P )
In presets with many user-defined variables, which make use of the progress variable, the preset will work fine if MD switches to it on it's own, with the long blend. But if you manually switch to it, either by selecting it in the menu, or by hitting spacebar, the progress portion of the preset doesn't go.
I noticed this in my bouncing ball preset (and Rovastar's mod of it which is slightly more interesting to look at), but I imagine it would work in other cases also.
