View Full Version : Id3v2 Problem On WinXP

I have my mp3's stored on a network share on an NT4 Server. I access them from a WinXP computer and a Win98 computer, both using winamp 2.77. I also access the mp3s from WMP8 on XP in order to transfer them to my mp3 player.

In addition, I've set up explorer to display mp3s sorted by artist, grouped. All my mp3s have ID3v1 tags, and many have ID3v2.

In explorer, everything displays fine. I can edit info in the properties dialog. However, in Winamp, the last letter of the title and artist is truncated. This only happens in the ID3v2. I tried adding the last letter again in Winamp, but it disappeared again. If I add a space at the end of the fields, it works fine. The ID3v1 tags work fine.

This is in files with BOTH ID3v1 and v2. Any info would be appreciated.

Winamp does not support Unicode ID3 tags
Known bug

Is the lack of unicode support responsible for losing the last letter only? Everything else shows up correctly (including ID3v1 tags).

Yup. Truncated names is due to Unicode tags

Ok. Thanks. Is this a planned addition to 2.x or will it be in 3?

with XP getting steam every day, may be it is worth a trouble to fix it at least temporary (patch, not beautiful one, ugly)?

because it is too annoying.
