It's been a long time since I didn't do any update to mantis but there is some cool stuff in the lastest version which I couldn't release before beta 2 that is worth seeing:
Mantis 0.9 - http://jamintx.***********/mantis.zip
* equaliser control (push the 4th gray button)
* has rounded corners (now the ui really looks like mantis)
* gave some time to skin the studio-elements.png
* bugs fixed, I don't remember them...
It makes a really fine skin, I don't think I will update it anymore though

And the other one...
Wasabi Studio is based on a psd steve gave me of an old UI wasabi once had which I really like... it's another "all-in-one-skin" ui with the playlist, medialibray, avs showing in the main window... it lacks of a seekbar and a volume bar, except that, it's cool and very useable...
Wasabi Studio 0.5 - http://jamintx.***********/wasabi.zip
* Initial plublic release
* Fixed some scripting stuff dealing with the wacs showing events

wow huge postpump *no offense ;)*
I like that wasabi studio, make the repeat, shuffle and crossfade near the Cbuttons, also the original one is with a ML and PL in one, are you gonna make that too ?

I and many other folks love these skins... plz keep tweakin them through to the final WA3 release.
One thing I have noticed is that Mantis is substantially faster than Wasabi... when running the "flying around" viz on Wasabi it gets a little choppy... and this is on a 1.4 gig Tbird system with 512 megs of RAM and a Geforce3 vid card.

To get your emulation more accurate you should put the seeker on top of the status bar on the bottom. The thumb was a little blue glass knobby thing. Oh and the play controls were in the lower right... Where your play controls are now was the title of the currently displaying component.
Maybe I can find those old old bitmaps for you. :) Hope so, but they might be lost in time and space at this point.
To get it 100% you need to hack the pl and ml to appear all-in-one, like they used to be. This kind of skinning control is coming, though.
Oh, and the thinger icon should be to the right of the thinger window, sized to be the same height. Which is why thinger icon is the thinger icon still, if you know what I mean. :)

wow man. I absolutely love the set up of your Wasabi skin. It's the closest skin to come to the design I talked in this thread. http://forums.winamp.com/showthread.php?threadid=67067

anyway... the one thing that makes me NOT fully enjoy Winamp 3 is how many windows there are. You need to take up the whole damn screen just to see 1/4 of them at once. If that is how it stays even when the FULL version is finished, then I'm stickin with Winamp 2.
They need to make it so the default skin has a twin of it self but with all it's components able to be combined into one window, ontop of each other, and you can use the switcher to switch window is showing IN that window... like how WinMX is set up.
Thanks so much for makin this beauty.
One thing though. There seems to be 1 pixel between the top and right of the skin and the edge of the screen. Might wan't to check that out.
[edit]hmmmm... now it seems to be going right up to the side of the screen. guess it was temporary

is it possible that we'll get a new version of mantis that can
"remember" the size of it and what was loaded?

Here's a small xmas gift, and for LyleWilson who asked it... a new version of mantis.
0.99 "untitled" http://jamintx.***********/mantis.zip
====
* Windows now remember its size, width and height... you just had to ask it ;)
* Eq now works like a charm without a dumb layer behind it
* Maybe more fixes, I don't remember
it's up on tripod but you have to enter on jamintx.*********** then download mantis by parsing the url, that's idiot but hey, I don't have much money :)
btw sawg, if you want to mirror this release too, it would be appreciated

I don't know WTF parsing is but I just clicked on the link and it
worked. Note to people: You can't just rename this skin .wal, you
have to unzip it into a folder. Oh, and you have to delete studio.xnf
or else it will barf on you (see pic). It remembers size but not what
was loaded. Merry X-mas you'all
Some added crap: The EQ adjusts to fit! Could you change the text on
the option menu? that green on gray is really hard to read!

bottom of the AVS? thats the eq sliding. this only happens on the
AVS.

Not anymore I think, because sq2 has got a new team...
And new team is workin' on a new GUI design...
Because that one really sux...
But I it's not certain... :weird:

Well, one of the guys (Tim or John, I dunno which) said they were keeping the old skin, but once they get the Mantis skinning thing out, they'll ask for submissions to be included. Or something. :)
On another note, I don't think that the Sonique2 Alpha GUI is crap, I think it's...well, it's alright. Sonique 1.95's is way better though, I mean, I'd rather have a cool little thingo that some big blue square, but whatever. Pill is pretty cool, there are some awesome skins out for that already. Anyway, seeing as how this is a WINAMP forum, and not a SONIQUE one, we'll stop talking about that now :p

;) I'm not reg at sq2, as the new Team wants everything to be at sonique.com, as it's their 'homeland', or something :p Plus, I'm a bit of a lurker anyway, you know how it is.
And I"M SO SORRY, lol, I know I said no more Sonique talk, but I can't help myself :p

Ah! Ok! So, I got this Wasabi skin and its real Kewl! Like Snyder said, its got everything in one window!
Just wondering, how do I get those AVS working in there? Do, I have to switch to the overlay mode? Can I not just watch it within the space provided without getting it to change the colours of what I'm working on too?
Another thing I'd like to suggest is to get a PL, ML, EQ and a thinger icon with those control buttons and take of the thinger! It gets up more space and when the thinger icon is used, it need not have those 3 icons (PL ML & EQ). Wonder why the thinger has those 3 anyway  The Main Window of most skins have those 3 anyway!
Smiles :)

Ok, I had this crazy idea for mantis, winshade! But not just any win
shade, just use QuarkAmp by Gonzo and the mantis skin I made for it,
(I updated it finally). Of course you would have to get Gonzos
permission but hey, it could be the next big thing. Imagine if you're
to lazy to make a winshade for your skin you just incorporate
QuarkAmp and edit 3 image files. According to my scripting knowledge
(read: none) this shouldn't be to hard to do, just add a winshade
button to the Mantis skin and a out-of-winshade to the QuarkAmp
thing. Attached is QuarkAmp .7 with my mantis skin.

Yeah! I would really like to see this one getting a bit more love, cuz it's very cool!
One thing though, that has been irritating me quite a bit is the thinger and status displays, they are all wrong and stuff...
I'll post a shot of the "real" wasabi studio along with the skin to show what I mean...
http://plague.homelinux.com/archive.gif http://plague.homelinux.com/wasabishot.gif
See the borders of the thinger display and the little status display at the bottom?
On the "real" wasabi studio, the white lines are at the bottom, giving the display a nice 'sunken in' look, but on the wasabi skin, it's just the opposite, giving it a raised look.
Know what I mean?
-Plague
(sorry for the size of the shots, but they're gif so they don't take too long to load)

I had too much time on my hands, so I made a update for Wasabi on my own. I don't have any web space to post this on  so I'll just attach the update to this post. Unzip Wasabi to a folder then replace the xml files from Wasabi with the ones in this zip.

Nice to know somebody's working on this...
Found a bug in your update though.
Check the song-timer in the bottom...
It's all fucked up and stuff.
Question: Is the color change in the titlebar the only thing you've updated?
-Plague

The only thing I really changed other than the titlebar color is that the configuration, shoutcast server list, and video now appear in the main window. That and messing up the timer.

I ran pngcrush and managed to get rid of a few xml files and got the skin down to 70KB minus that huge background.png. Just download this and copy was\background.png into my version.
