Hi,

sometimes (at parties) I am using winamp with 2 instances, 2 sound cards and a mixer table to have some fun :) Since one of my cards is SB Live and has already 2 outputs (rear and front) I was wondering if there is a way to make winamp play in only one output, this way I will use one instance to output to the rear the other one to the front so I will not need 2 sound cards anymore.

thx ;)

I don't think there is, because with the Live Cards, you can only set either the normal output (for two speakers) or the two outputs (for four speakers), and all the sound from the card is then directed, depending on your config that you choose.

the thing is that sometimes I am using pcdj red which has this feature, I put left player onto rear speakers and right player on front speakers - but the problem is I don't like the interface of that program, I would like to use winamp for doing that

Download and install this.

http://www.blorp.com/~peter/zips/wa2update.exe

Go to Winamp Preferences, Output, Select either the Crossfading Directsound output plugin or the Alternative Directsound output plugin and you should get sound from all 4 speakers with just 1 soundcard as long as the soundcard supports 4 speakers.

thanks for the plugin but still my wish was to be able to output one winamp in rear speakers (only) and another winamp instance in front speakers (only) This way I can put both winamps into a table mixer and have 2 separate stereo channels. Again right now I am doing this using 2 soundcards and selecting one soundcard for each winamp instance.

ok I give up  seems like everybody is reading the subject line of the thread and give me an advice on how to use all 4 speakers on my sound card which I already know... maybe my english is not that good or ... I don't know :p I just wanted that winamp to have a fader control (as the one in car stereos) when I can select only rear or front speakers from within wiamp not from the system mixer
