I am getting the "Couldn't create offscreen images! (Probably not enough video memory left)," etc. error whenever I try to run MilkDrop.
My current setup is:
MilkDrop v. 1.01
Winamp v. 2.78
Windows 2000
Voodoo 4/4500
I uninstalled the 3dfx drivers, and installed the ones at windows update, and I am still getting the same error message. I have tried multiple configurations of color depths and screen sizes...has anyone else experienced similar problems or have any ideas on how to fix this? Any help is appreciated!
Thank You,
Mark

Try decreasing the resolution/color depth that Milkdrop runs at.

What OS are you running? I get the same error under WinXP (Voodoo5), but under Win2000 it worked fine...the funny part is I'm running dual-monitor and MD works on the ATI all-in-wonder with 16MB of memory...
Even if MD is only recognizing one chip because of poor drivers from M$ (and therefore half the memory, like under Linux) it should still work...

well the feared voodoo problem on 2k/xp
there is no solution for it right now.. the official 3dfx drivers wont do it, only some (not even all, dont ask.. the ones that comes with win2k work, i.e.) microsoft OEM drivers do it, but they dont support openGL or Glide... i doubt that ryan will fix this problem (it seems to be md-related tho since its the only place where i saw that strange error), since he knows long enough about it and hasnt done anything (or maybe he just isnt able too, i dunno, but supporting other interfaces than Direct3d (openGL?) should solve it).. so all you can do is looking for 3rd party drivers which uses the microsoft-dll which works... so go to voodoofiles.com and have fun in testing about 50 drivers for your voodoo-pleasure.. i didnt do it.. i stopped with the first driver that could get OpenGL run smooth and crash-free and i will enjoy md somewhen in the future with my new gfx-board.. yeah... and md looks a lot uglier in 16bpp than 32bpp as well (my v3 only does 16)
hoped i helped u out a bit

I have that same EXACT problem. I'm using Windows XP with a Voodoo 5 5500.
Peice of crap.
I had to download a 3rd party driver to get OpenGL/Glide to work. Now I can play Return to Castle Wofenstein.
Now, this won't work.

Maybe it is worth you folks asking those people at voodoofile.com if they can write a driver the works with MilkDrop.
I think they have message boards and stuff there.

Ok
Drivers for Voodoo 4 and 5 for 2000 that apparently work fine with MilkDrop can be found here

Don't know about XP yet but I have posted on some 3dfx forums.

So if you voodoo people could test stuff/hassle them :) there, etc it would be great.
