Using an ATI Radeon 8500 i'm getting some really strange issues...

At 1024x768 @ half resolution in desktop mode, it get 95-100fps solid, using under 5% of the cpu, but if i set it up to full resolution, i get at most 40fps, and around 70% cpu utilization...

at 1280x1024 @ full resolution it does the exact same thing, with the same numbers.

kinda odd. any ideas?

1024x768 is a lot more difficult to process than 512x384.

Exactly. Half resolution = 1/4 workload. Plus it's all being blitted on to your desktop, don't forget.
Count yourself lucky you can use desktop mode at any decent speed at all.

Soo... would blitting it to the desktop cause 1/2 the fps and 3x the cpu utilization of native mode?
