did you read the whole story?

But the AOL software could be configured to override Windows and launch a version of Red Hat's Linux operating system, sources said.

now if they just made AOL not suck, that would be the best thing that could happen!

the question is, would you use "AOLnix" or whatever they want to call it?

why don't they develop their own linux distro??

If this will become reality, it will be a sad day to the Open Source community, IMO. RH will be a bunch of hypocrits ... Selling out like that. All I can say is: Bah! :(

God, this sucks. Why does AOL have to ruin everything. Can you immagine the things that AOL would do to ruin linux.

AOL bought Winamp and Netscape (which pays some Mozilla development costs). Red Hat could potentially still be open-sourced if AOL owns it...look at NSIS. RH could end up with more development money and the legal/business clout of AOL behind them. It certainly helped Winamp out at the right time.

look at NSIS

i got a legal question for you all.

does AOL own NSIS, sex, and all those other progs that justin does on the side?
do they also own shoutcast?

in my not-knowing-anything opinion:

AOL owns Nullsoft.

NSIS comes with a license that states it is Copyright 1999-2001 Nullsoft, Inc.

this means that AOL owns NSIS.

case closed. another fine example of deductive reasoning.
