four additional reviewers have just been taken on recently.
The 4-6 week queue is due to ...
a) the xmas holidays, even llamas need a day off
b) the review team are busy sorting the db out into something more manageable for the public to use, this has slowed things a little, Keep watching the front page of winamp.com any day now for more information on this, I assure you, you'll approve ;)
Peace

I totally agree, there should be more people reviewing skins so that they make it to the skins page of www.winamp.com. It seems like there is a backlog of skins, which are waiting to be reviewed. Also it would be nice to help out.:)

I will be recommending a complete turn around and going back to a bot review system, because I am getting really tired of always having to hear bitching and whining about the backlog, about the skinners and about anything else everybody seems to be an expert on. I have not heard anybody say: "Hey, all skinners have disappeared from Stereo and from Retro", or from a few other categories I have been working on almost day and night. You guys want the impossible, and you are not going to get it.

Ok ok.
Before anyone else makes an annoyed reply, and people start getting stressed just stop for a moment.
Skin reviewers, remember. The general public hardly know anything about the skin review system, nor do they know just how many skins get submitted every day.
From their end, all they see is that their skin is still sitting there.
And all you people complaining. Next time, ask first, so you know the full story before complaining.
All you reviewers just ignore the complainers, I'll wander around and try to answer to them all (the least I can do.)

I will be recommending a complete turn around and going back to a bot review systemif you mean instant posting, like on deviant art, that will never happen. aol wouldn't let skins be posted that haven't been reviewed for nudity or copyright violations. hopefully when wa3 is finally released, the amount of wa2 skinners will drop dramatily and this problem will be solved. until then, use deviant art and 1001 winamp skins and quit bitchin.
btw- all of my skins get more downloads on 1001 WAS and DevArt than they do here. i guess there are so many skins that the odds are low that someone will stumble across your skin.

"Hey, all skinners have disappeared from Stereo and from Retro !!"
that's great news. there are now only 193 skins in retro!
keep up the good work folks :)

ok LISTEN TO ME...
IF THERE IS A BACKLOG/ OVERLOAD OF SKINS... that you cannot handle... and help is being offered to you FOR FREE (LOOK IT DOES SAY OFFERED AND FREE) YOU SHOULD THINK FOR A SECOND AND SAY TO YOUR SELF .o0(hmm... im being offered free help... i should take the chance to have the great backlog of skin reduced)... NOT .o0(nahhh... fuck em!)...
btw... definitions
FREE - DOESNT COST ANYTHING... YOU DO NOT PAY FOR IT... NO MONEY INVOLVED
OFFERED - NOT ASKED FOR... ACT OF KINDNESS... DO NOT NEED TO ASK FOR...

No one said the reviewers couldn't handle it, and I don't care for the accusation that they can't.
I explained why there is a slight backlog, xmas holidays and stuff.
I also explained that new reviewers have just been taken on, these are in addition to the existing review staff, and not replacements.
One of the reasons why the team is kept down to a reasonable number is that it's easier to work as a small tight team than a massive sprawling mass of members, it's also the same reason why the winamp mod squad is kept to the numbers that it is.
If new reviewers are required , for example if people drop out, then it is discussed backstage by other members of the review team, who will suggest suitable candidates, these people will then be approached and asked if they would like to help out. These people are often members of these forums who have shown a level of maturity, balanced opinions and who have usualy been around a while.
That's how it works, as we have just taken on additional people in the last month, there is currently no requirement for additional people.
If you have an issue with that, feel free to take it up with me via the use of the PM button, don't go off on ANOTHER CAPS LOCK RANTORAMA, that aint the way to impress people.
The review team do an excellent, balanced job and deserve your applause and thanks, not a perpetual stream of "WTF KIND OF SHITE SYSTEM IS THIS" style posts.
You will see later this evening, just exactly how hard they work :)
Peace :)

i never said "WTF KIND OF SHITE SYSTEM IS THIS"...
and u still havnt answered "Why Dont You Pick Up 4 - 8 More Members On A Temp Basis... Just Untill The Backlog Has Been Brought Down... Then They Can Be Kept "On Call" If The Backlog Ever Builds Back Up Again...
btw... CAPS were not meant to impress... there meant to get my point across

Ok, lets start at the beginning shall we, the reason I didnt answer
"Why Dont You Pick Up 4 - 8 More Members On A Temp Basis... Just Untill The Backlog Has Been Brought Down...
Is because I don't recall you saying that untill the last post you made.
Secondly,When or who decided it was a backlog anyhow? 4-6 weeks is pretty good acctually, and has been pretty much the same since the review team came into force back in August, if you excuse the huge database fuck up that happend in August/September. You can check that in the "FAQ about submitting skins" thingy at the top of this forum, it's been written in there for months.
Cast your mind back to early this year when delays of up to 3 months were common in publishing skins, you can recall that right?
By the way, it isn't acctually that easy just making temp reviewers, it requires changed to the user database, which given that there is a lack of resources withing Nullsoft, dosn't happen overnight.
Didn't answer your question?, I think I may have done.
I said additional reviewers have just been taken on, shite, it took near on a month to get those users set up.
Next up, writing in caps, dosn't get your point accross, it merely makes me skip over it.
Lastly, which bit of.....
If you have an issue with that, feel free to take it up with me via the use of the PM button
Is unclear ?
I tell you what, I'll be sure to bring your name up backstage, see what the other guys think of you?, hows that sound?
