Hey all,

My brother just like, last week, bought a new Nokia phone (pff.. 8210 or something, I don't know). Anyways, now, on his display, there is this little... burst. It's broken. It shows like, you know how you press against a screen and it kinda shows all the pixels together, well that's how his phone is.

Now, I think I have read somewhere that Nokia phones seem to have this a lot... but I can't remember where. I kinda need to know this, because the people at the shop said that Nokia probably wouldn't replace his phone, because they'll say that my brother broke it, but he didn't. Now, if I can come up with some evidence that Nokia phones just have this problem more, he might get a new one.

So, post your stories about Nokia phones and/or links to articles about Nokia phones.

Thanks a lot!

Nokia, Nokia, Nokia....

The only display issues I've known with Nokia phones is display fade, as far as I know this has effected the 5110, 6110 and 6150 models, I control a user base of about 150 nokia phones at work, and display fade is the most common fuck up on them.

Simply the display dissapears, squeezing the screen often brings it back again.

This was an admitted design flaw on the 5110 and 6110 models, these were fazed out and replaced by the 6150 version, also bringing in dual band compatabilty as standard, but the old display fade problem still exists in these models.

Haven't heard it on any of the other models, having said that we don't use any other variety of Nokias, apart from a few 6210's

Personally, I've had about 8 6110 models in the last couple of years, at least 3 of those died due to screen fade., the rest met with violent, destructive ends and at least one was death by drowning :)

Tell your brother to get a phone other than Nokia. Nokia are pretty crap.

Just don't get a Ericson, I could write you an entire novel called "1001 problems with Eriscson phones"

My advice, toss your phone away, it's nothing but a portable brain scrambling device, people call you at the most inoportune momments (2.53am this morning for example), bleh get rid, write a letter instead :)

Hit something with it.
If that doesn't work, drop it to the floor.

I get these kind of troubles all the time with my 6150.

Heh, remembered one week ago, the display went gay again, and it wouldn't work however much I hit things with it.
Then later on, when out, and more drunk, I tried to pick it up, and then dropped it, and it flew to the floor.
Dit it work? Yes. :p

My trusty motorala brickphone is still working, even after all these years, wheras i have got through a nokia (that was stolen) and a siemens.

I think that the more features they shove into a phone, the shorter it lasts.

Word.

I have an old Nokia 2110 house sized phone around here somewhere, that comes out usualy when my regular phone dies a death, had that for like 8 years now, still going strong, had at least 5 years solid use out of it before it got retired to the reserve list.

Fucking great to throw at people as well, kill a man at 20 paces with one :)

I had this with my 8210.

Join club nokia (club.nokia.com), then get nokia to replace it

Philips phones rule all :D I've had mine for over a year, and still as good as new and still great battery life... I dropped it a few times, but she's still going strong... Only thing I don't like about it is the color and the gay ring tones :) Oh and it's completely featureless :D

ive had a nokia 5165 for just over a year now. perfectly fine other then the damn battery slipping off. i fixed that by putting paper under it and now it is perfect again,
Ditto. :)

I fixed the loose battery problem by putting a little JB Weld on the battery slide rails to take up the slack. Other than that, I've never had a problem with it. I've dropped it numerous times on all kinds of things... the worst being concrete. When it hit, it busted into about 7 different pieces. I picked them all up, put them back together, and turned it back on. Works great. :D

The are robust. I've dropped my 3310 onto hard floors countless times, and it still carries on regardless. The case isnt even chipped.

Same goes for the TV remote. Why and how that is still working is beyond me.

I had a nokia for 3 years and never had a problem.

I bought a new cell phone this weekend because I switched companies and phone plans.

My new phone is so cool. I even have the internet and (YUCKY) Aol instant messanger on it.

This is my new phone. It is so cool and hi-tech. I just say "Call Mom" and it calls my mom.

Bah, damned you all and your 'modern' phones, i still have a good ol fashion Mobile Cellular Wireless Phone (thats what the bottom says) from Motorola, it's from back in the early 90's (92 or 93 me thinks). It's bigger and heavier then a car battery and has little feet on the bottom so you can put it down without scraping the floor. It's big, bulky and damned ugly. But i still have yet to find a place i don't get service (and you can drive to, still no service in the middle of algonquin park)

I got a Nokia 6162 that I carried on the road
while I drove my produce truck, and still use it.
It's been dropped, rain and snowed on, left for dead,
you name it, and I mistreated it.
I haven't had any problems with it yet,
and I like all the little features it has.
But then I don't use it allot since I came off the road.
Neat little phone for my purposes.
