Notepad doesn't have syntax highlighting and there is a limit to the maximum filesize.

Mine too, but I need to open huge files (~5 megs) and EditPad was slow. EditPlus is very quick. How is EmEdit with speed?

Great, loads in under a second. Haven't tried it with huge files as I don't have any, looks really swish though :)

EmEdit can load massive files relatively quickly. But I think the clean interface really sets it apart from other word processors... most competitors are worried about cramming as many features as possible, and not about how efficiently and quickly the user can complete his/her task.

Just tried EmEdit. The documents are not tabbed inside its main window, so I'll stick to EditPlus

RM. come here and let me kiss you :D Notepad is bugged and fuxors up my documents occasionaly (still does in XP), so I used to use Metapad until I got XP. Now for some reason, I just can't copy text from metapad... it just wont copy. =\ And the only other text editor I could find that I liked was NoteTab Pro, but it takes so long to load and it's tabed set up started getting more annoying then convenient. But then here you come to my rescue. Now come here and kiss me, Big Boy. :D WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
wait ewww. :weird:

i seem to recall a cracking tutorial that explains how to edit notepad so that it allows any filesize. the same tutorial allows you to add functions to notepad via ASM :)

If it had a word count function it'd be perfect, or am I being stupid and it has one?

I know. But it works for me. If had any large text files to open, I'd prolly get metapad. But I don't. So Notepad works for me. :)
