u prolly have heard this before but again...
i ask all the users of EAC or CDex to rate what prog they use and why?

why is critical...it would be cool if comparisons on quality and speed could be provided..ease of use is not a concern..

i have downloaded them and once i get home i will try but iw ould like your input...

thanx

I have tried CDEX a couple of months ago,i found that it was not so friendly to use !
I later picked on EAC and i think that it works quite well!
I mainly use EAC for ripping live cd's,using the "create cd image and cue" function.

I now use EAC. It really kicks ass, has an incredible bunch of options and the secure modes make it the best ripper.

I have both installed. They are equally good programs IMHO. I find CDex more user friendly, but EAC has more features.

thanx for your input....I think EAC is your unanimous choice...quality should be the prime criteria...

CDex would make my computer hang all the time. In EAC, I'd have BSOD problems, but after switching to Paranoid mode in EAC, it's all good.

I'd rate EAC higher than CDex because its most secure mode is more secure than CDex's, it has more ripping modes and features, and isn't as bad on my computer when I'm multitasking.

I use EAC to rip and LAME 3.91 to encode my mp3s.

I prefer CDex - I don't think there's really much difference between the two in that they're both streets ahead of MusicMatch :D

My equipment sucks, so quality doesn't really matter. I've always used CDex, and found no need to try EAC.

I had to switch from CDex to EAC because my DVD-ROM sucks and gave me hanging and BSOD problems.

Before CDex I was perfectly happy with AudioGrabber. I still like is and intend on going back to it when secure ripping is implemented. I mean, I paid the guy $20 of my hard earned (or not) money.

It's easy to detect errors by a cd-ripper. So switch to another cd-ripper immidiately, when you heavily distorted sounds which shouldn't be there.
It's a bit more harder to hear differences in mp3 converter so just use LAME.

My burner works on USB, ao EAC has a hard time using it… it takes a minute to load up when I have the burner set as the default drive, and then I get errors whenever I close EAC.

Which is another reason why I use it in Paranoid mode with my DVD-ROM instead.

never tried EAC.. CDex is fine as long as you dont want to open the wallet.. however I think IMHO that the all in one encoder, ripper, converter, and burner, and yet reliable AND full-featured software is the Easy CD Extractor (http://www.poikosoft.com/)by our northern fellows.

I have CDex and I like it well enough. I'm interested in trying out EAC to compare the two but my search engine always gives me a dead link to Exact Audio Copy. Can anyone post a link here that works so I can try it out?

Still can't get there. I wonder if their server's down or it's just a problem with my browser somehow.

it's..umm..shareware. worth the price? it's relative.. depending how a 'ripper-person' you are. if it's your daily bread and care about quality and have some bucks to spare, then give it a shot.
