Xbox website (http://www.xbox.com/)

Well the Xbox is released today in the most countries of the EU! What do you think of Xbox and are you going to buy one? I don't really have an opinion about the Xbox. I hardly play with consoles.

I wouldnt touch it - yet. Microsoft just recalled the ones they unveiled a little under a month ago in Japan. Apparantly they scratch the discs when they spin.

I wonder what other surprises are in store......

LOL :D

I read that Microsoft acknowledged that the problem was real but said it wasn't a motive for replacement.

Go PS2 :)

Get a PS2 with Metal Gear Solid 2 ! That is the BEST game ever ! Its worth buying a PS2 just for to play that game !

:)

It's also worth getting a PS2 just to play GTA3, or Gran Turismo 3, or FIFA2002. Preferably, though, all four.

Haha! I felt the microsoft console was destined for trouble. What gave the impression? Windows 3.0, 95, 98, Me. Microsoft Office. Microsoft VB3, VB6, VBA. Microsoft products in general, but least reliable of all, Microsoft Internet Explorer. When it crashes, it brings the whole house right down

I don't think I will get an xbox. I'm looking at the ps2 and gamecube. Mainly for final fantasy games.

LOL! Suprise, suprise!

Go with PS2 or GCN, GCN got a lot of good titles like 007, BMX2, Simpsons Road Rage, and maybe Perfect Dark Zer0 if it comes out before 2004 :(

I have a xbox. Its can kick an ps2's ass eny day. 1. NONE OF THE PARTS INSIDE OF THE XBOX WERE MADE BY MICROSOFT. 2. NONE OF THE GAMES ARE MADE BY MICROSOFT. Every time microsoft sales an xbox they lose money i bet you didn't know that. The xbox is more advandced than an ps2 or gamecube. But i ain't dissing on the ps2's i am going to buy one. It ain't how good the system is its how good the developers use the system. So for now i think they are evenly matched. And gamecube could be a lot better but they just haven't found out that some people don't like kid games.

IE is weird ... the program that provides your desktop (explorer) also is IE (or at least part of it is IE).

PS - will NOT be buying Xbox

Xbox is much better and more powerful than any other console. Just to note, PS2 was also scratching discs when it was first released, so don't dis Xbox for that. GameCube is merely okay, it's not as powerful as Xbox, but more powerful than PS2, though all of it's games are for little kids (at lease ones I've seen). Personally, I'm not into consoles anymore since SEGA Genesis and SNES, so I think PC is the way to go. PCz rule!

Xbox could be good but there are no decent titles for it ! Nothing that rivals the gameplay of MGS 2, GTA 3 or Tony Hawks 3 !!!!! Maybe the graphics are a bit better but what are graphics without gameplay ?????

Umm, true. I myself never understood why people like MGS so much because to me it seemed too long and too repetitious. Gran Turismo seemed nice, but racing is racing. Tony Hawk Pro Skater hasn't changed much from it's previous version. So, I don't see anything worth buying. For PC there isn't a whole lot either, but there are free titles unlike for console. I'm very addicted to Urban Terror Quake 3 mod for the last year or so, I really recommend it. I guess that's it, I've said everyting. Oh, I'd really love to see Deus Ex 2 and Thief 3 for PC if they will ever come out...

Since when is there Resident Evil for Game Cube? And even if there were, majority of games are aimted for young audience. (who'd play this pikmin for instance?)

There are a couple of RE titles in development for the GC.

Ahh.. the eternal, idiodic belief that Nintendo is for kids. Resident Evil is now exclusive the GameCube. The totally remade Resident Evil I is due for release this month. Resident Evil 0, a completely new game is an exclusive GCN game.
Also, Eternal Darkness: Sanity's Requiem, another M rated game is due for release in June. I don't need to bother mentioning Turok: Evolutions either. Those people that continue to think that the Gamecube is a system for children are merely uninformed.
Oh, and for those that think GCN will have no good RPGs, Square is working on an exclusive title, as is Sega.
I'll hesitate to say that the Gamecube is better than the Xbox is (even though it is), as I'm a biased Gamecube owner.
If you want to find out more about the games and stuff, check out cube.ign.com lots of good info there.

That fact is that Nintendo do bring out a hell of a lot more games for kids than they do for more choosy, adult, gamers.

First off, just wanna say I own GC, PS2, DC, and XBox...

Second, the only one that gets my playtime is the Xbox.

Third, if you have an Xbox, rent Gun Valkyrie if you haven't yet.
That game is pimp, and will work you for your money's worth.

Anyways...

DC was alright, Typing of the Dead is the only game I really play on it anymore... my g/f likes to play Space Channel 5 now and again. The glory of the DC has pretty much come and gone.

Ps2 was cool... in it's day. The Ps2 paddle used to rank #1 with me, I thought it was perfect in every aspect. Couldn't stand the DC paddle, so i bought an adapter to use playstation pads on my DC (else I really never would have touched the thing). Ps2 has some decent games. I will occasionally find a game I like now and then. DOA2, MGS2, Devil May Cry, FFX...

GC, well... nintendo was the bomb when it first came out. My brother and I ruled the neighborhood (neighbors parents would call us to test their nintendo to see if it was broken cuz their kids couldn't reproduce certain moves - hahaha). Anyways, GC is fine if you like that kind of stuff. Zelda was only good on the original NES, skip to the the 64, translates to 'Out of Date.' Or maybe I just outgrew that game? On a totally seperate note, I like to use the analogy: Xbox to Gamecube as PC to Mac...

Xbox, the paddle takes a day to get the hang off, but ultimately works like a charm. You don't realize it's full potential until you play a game like Gun Valkyrie. Before Xbox came out, I wanted a Ps2 paddle converter, also keyboard and mouse add-on (like Ps2 w/UT)... but now I could care less! It's big at first (it seems to shrink after you get the feel for it - all psychosomatic of course), yet you'll find it's well designed and very powerful! As far as games... Halo is pimp multiplayer, that's fo sho. Otherwise, I never play that game. DOA3, fun stuff multiplayer too. THPS serires are the best on this platform, better than GC or PS2... Same with Spider-Man. Oh, and being the snowboard bum i am, I love Amped ;). I just wish they would have included all of Brighton, not just two lifts... also, they should have included secret areas like Rock Garden, maybe next time.

All in all, really it boils down to you and personal preference... what floats your boat or tickles your pickle? I think the Xbox is so dope, I bought another one (I won a third one in a Taco Bell contest), and then my roomie bought one. We have a blast playing Halo with 14 other buds! Bond was a dissapointment (doesn't compare in proportion to the good ole n64 days of Bond - though Quake was THE best fps at that time - had some lamer friends who swore by bond tho), I can't wait for TimeSplitters 2 & Unreal Championship, & MK: Deadly Allinace will look the best on Xbox too, no doubt about that. Sure, GC has a bright future, but don't under estimate the Xbox just cuz it wears M$... its future is just as bright as GC, if not more.

This is just my 2ยข, take it for what it's worth.

As for the XBOX, it's just a glorified PC, hell, id i HAD to pick a console for gaming, id probally get a GC, or mabey, just mabey, a DREAMCAST. I like the Dreamcast still, has alot of games i enjoy, but my main prefence is PC's for gaming, fast, internet access right out of the box, and i can do somethin that yu cant do with a console, i can updgrade my PC! :D
