Playlist interface?

Is it possible to interface directly with the current playlist? What I'm looking for is a way to create multiple entries in the playlist per file. For instance, I've got a single .mp3 that represents an entire album, but it would be great to have one entry in the list per track. I'd imagine you'd associate each entry with a filename and offset (time, samples, etc.) into the file.

Any chance?

nope, playlists dont have that much control, they are just play..lists <--see? :)

No idea if this works, but I suggest looking at input plugins; it just might be possible to make one of those alias different parts of the same file (after all; the dsp test plugin uses an arbitrary URL to produce a tone).
