Sorry I couldn't find the thread for the news article.
I have a kind of radical idea for the skin directory ui which you've probably already considered but I'll go ahead anyway.
For us people who are still stuck with 56K and in the interest of efficiency, and even though images in the current interface are working pretty well, I think a quicker, more responsive and more productive system might result in using text in more of the process.
I forget if there is a skin search (probably is) but maximizing the utility of that would probably be generally useful. I would love to see a result list with the name, category, rating, and one-line description (forgive me, I haven't searched lately).
Even though it may seem a little antiquated, and in fact may be antiquated, a more text/database-oriented system using the above record structure with the images as the end-point would certainly be faster.
