You read me right- the UK, not the US.
News story (http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/main.jhtml;$sessionid$W4L5OSYAAAQILQFIQMGSFF4AVCBQWIV0?xml=/news/2002/03/21/niraq21.xml&sSheet=/portal/2002/03/21/ixport.html)
It seems that the UK has just realized that in only a couple years the isles as well as the rest of western europe will be in range of Islamist nuclear missles. I am glad the British government is sending a strong message to these nasty little hellholes- and I wish the rest of europe would be so resolute.
I must admit beginning to like this blair guy ... (a little ;))

Mr Hoon said that Britain could come within range of missiles fired from the Middle East within the "next few years".
Typical Labour scaremongering designed to sweeten the bitter pill that they are making us swallow.
This whole thing stinks. The bully boys of the world are just scared now that they are (potentially) not the only ones to have these weapons of mass destruction.

A German magazine had a front with Bush in rambo style.
The American president actually then ordered posters of that cover. :igor:

"A day late and a dollar short" us Americans like to say. It was leaked from the Pentagon that my government is "thinking" about using nuclear weapons against Iraq. You know what that means... It means that the US government has already planned to used them and we're just getting the word later. Who wants to see World War III raise you hand!!!!:hang:

I fully agree with you Xerxes - although the rest of Europe can't really be that resolute as France is the only other country to have nuclear capability...

heh the french, they only know how to surrender and dig holes.
just the type of people we'd like to see give up their weapons to any invader.

Right, but they could still at least send the message that they would will terminate terrorists with all quickness if provoked. All of europe seems so mamby pamby about everything.

Aren't the Germans banned from having weapons that big? Or has all that gone since the cold war and the days of the EU?
I actually wouldn't be surprised if our right wing government privatised the Nuclear deterrent off to some Asian comapny. Meh.

Hell yes.
New Labour has consistently got more and more right wing in the last 5 years since coming to power in 1997. They are now almost on an ideological par with the Conservative party. Bring back Communism, all is forgiven.

i think that we should stop making idle threats and show them what were made of! The yanks and the British = a powerful combination. I think that the UK are bluffing. They wouldnt drop a bomb on Iraq. could you honestly see that happen???

I can't see tony doing it, he doesn't need to take that risk. He already has a huge majority government and an un-electable opposition. If they made the first move however then I'd like to see that, show the world we aren't such a soft touch.

Actually I think late last year all restrictions on Germany and Japan were removed, based on the assumption that they've got two of the world's strongest economies now, and also there's nothing to fear from them military-wise anymore.
Plus there's also the school of thought which suggests they can't help with the "war against terror" if they don't have sufficient military resources.
