I am a big fan of Half Life and I think that it is the best shooter games of its time of release. Im looking forward to the release of Half Life 2 and if its as half as good as people are saying, I will fight people to be the first in the que to get it! ;)
I posted this thread because I, and im sure many other people too want to know if anyone has any news on the upcoming Half Life 2 and if anyone knows a possible date of release. I also looked for screenshots - unsuccesfull. I would also apreciate it if anyone has found any screenshots! :igor:

I got bored and gave up with Half Life. It's ok, but i only starting playing the other year and by todays standards it's starting to look a bit poor.

True, but in 1998(!) it was damned good.

4 years. Wow.

Was it really 98 when it came out!? One thing that spoiled Half Life was the alin planet. Not much happened there and it was very boring looking! It'll be interesting to see what they do with the planet and the final alien on Half Life 2!! :igor:

half life was immense- i will buy the sequel, because i owe valve the extra money for the original.

graphics- the best: the first to elicit a "real" feel,
ai- the best: no one ever posed you against tactical enemies before
plot- the best: immersion? beyond compare

continue for every element of the game

well, i brought halflife, blueshift and opposing force. i have played all three through 3 times (each difficulty level), and i still reckon they are great. i can't wait for hl2 (or halo for the pc, or unreal2)

I'll buy half-life 2. Unless I can find an on-line working CD-key. I'll probably just buy it for Counter Strike and Team Fortress. Not the Single Player stuff.

quake really wasnt alien envioments, it was suppose to start in a move of a colonized envioment, then to the more alien (which actually supposed to be of a satanic like, but only the people who still play it would care...)

when half-life came out i was very very impressed with it graphicly story line everything, just the sheer reality of it, when u entered the black masa reasearch facility you could just imagine it being real set out there in the middle of nowhere. unfortunately i never completed the single player i got to the alien world at least 5 times but ebverytime i had my computer break down or a version upgrade and i lost my save games so annoying it rocks tho opposing force kicked ass aswell altho i never got far on that asd i dont play games so much as i used to dot have time :(

i would buy hl 2 if it was anywhere near as good as one it would be worth it and they have a blue watch and oppsing force and your the scientist in the origional.... so when do you get to be the alien or did i miss that mod ??

I only hope that there is a slightly better ending this time around.

I though "Evil Guy" was kind of cool. Though the endings were somewhat anti-climatic. Though I hope HL2 takes place in Black Meas. That place was cool, Xen.

Though with all the video games being turned into moves, I think Half-Life would make an interesting move. You got top-secret government facility, questionable science, an experiment gone wrong, an un-likely here (Freeman, scientist) and a nice human bad guy "Evil Guy".

Um, i kinda hope that a. Half life 2 will be ALOT longer (not that Half Life was short or anything) and b. should have more of the desert in it! The desert areas were amazing and it gets kinda boring inside the black mesa complex all the time! Im not a serious gamer but Half Life is an AMAZING game and the people who invented and made it should get a knighthood!

(ok, maybe going too far there!!)

I feel the same way.

Half Life, IMO, is the best PC shooter out there. I just like it's style. And the way that you can see G-Man (the evil government suit guy) conspiratizing (?) against you throughout the plot just gives me chills. I actually liked the ending(s) because they were so unexpected, not any of that overdone ending of guy gets girl and they run away from the building before it explodes crap.

I can't wait for the sequel.
