I read the NullSoft article about the effort to clean up the skins database, and I applaud the efforts of everyone who is contributing.
However, I feel that the NEW skins section has not been addressed. There have been several different solutions discussed in other threads addressing the problem of triageing incoming NEW skins, seperating skinner.exe skins from all others.
To my mind, new skins are where the action is. I think it makes more sense to separate the skinner skins as they come in instead of going through all of the new skins manually and moving them to other places where they are harder to find. (I guess 3D would probably be where the ones I'm interested in would end up). If you really want to do that, I would request that there be a way to identify new skins going into that section, or sort by date, if that is not already an option.
Seems like *any* solution will require some change in the database. Maybe, at this point in the process, if you can't sort by posted date, adding a field for *NEW* would be the most painless solution. It would have to have the added date, and have the *NEW* flag expire after a given length of time. For it to be really useful, the *NEW* flag would have to be searchable.
All that would be fine with me, if you don't want to work directly on the new skins as they come in.
Good luck. You have your mission.
