Hi,

I have a small problem with Milkdrop. I think I know why, but I don'y know how to correct it.

SysInfo:
Winamp 2.79c
Milkdrop 1.02
WinXP PL
Crossfading DirectSound Output 1.34

Problem:
Crossfading between songs is on. On Milkdrop screen (fullscreen mode) is diplayed [time/total.tame] and a problem is when new song starts. Fonts are reset to some awful system fonts :( On exit winamp says something about error, and wants restart of itself. It is not neccesary, but ...

I seem to recall some problems with the crossfader a while ago. I don't know of any fixes, sorry.
Since Ryan works at NUllsoft though, he could get a hold of the crossfader code, and twiddle things to make them compatible.

I use peter's crossfading plugin v1.34a (I've also used the last 4 or 5 versions) with no problems under XP, Winamp2.79 & Milkdrop 1.02.

I think the problem may lie elsewhere... have you updated your soundcard/videocard drivers? And do you have a real soundcard or a crappy onboard sound chip?

hmmm

I think I have old good SBLive! Value with newest drivers :P

Did you try do exactly what I described ?? Problem is no big. If I turn off total time from Milkdrop screen everything is OK. If total time is on is OK too ... but when songs is changed on a while Milkdrop doesn't know what is total time. It writes some number in whole line ... and font is changed to some system font. On exit winamp says something about problem. But restart of program is not necessary.

It is a little hard to write in English for me. But I hope I've described problem good.

Ah! Soundblaster...

Look in your c:\Program Files\Winamp\Plugins folder and delete gen_nomad.dll if you see it there. It is a plugin that Creative silently adds to Winamp upon installation of their software, and is known to cause a lot of problems with Winamp. Read this thread. (http://forums.winamp.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=65298) for a lot more info on this topic.

If that is not the cause... this may be too obvious, but do you actually have the fonts installed on your system that Milkdrop is trying to load? Or maybe they are installed but have become corrupted somehow. Press Alt-K in Winamp to open the Milkdrop config window, click on More Options and change the fonts MD uses.

I have used Milkdrop in a similar config to you, (with time/total time displayed) through many versions of the crossfading plugin, Winamp, and MD itself and have never had this problem under Windows Millennium nor XP.

Thanks

I thought then I deleted all NOMAD files ... thanks

Can you try one more thing:

configure crossfader - check gapeless mode on and use max skipping protection ...

PS. I'm new on forum, but not new in computer use :)

Just tried both of those and everything still works lovely (at 1280x1024x32... I love my geforce3:) ).

Have you tried one of the other output plugins (out_wave.dll or out_ds2.dll)?

If you still think that peter's crossfading plugin is to blame then first of all RTFM (http://www.blorp.com/~peter/ds_manual.htm) and then if you're feeling brave ask peter himself here (http://forums.winamp.com/forumdisplay.php?s=&forumid=129).

Good luck!
